Dion Sims hooping?

Does anyone know anything about the status of Dion Sims and the hoops team? I don't see him on the roster but know he was pretty highly touted coming out of HS? What's the word? I'd love to see him challenging for some minutes and gotta believe Izzo would never turn down another big banger. He probably wouldn't play much at all this year but I could see him pitching in down the line.

I haven't seen anything on this

My guess is that it’s not a huge priority for Sims or Izzo until after football season is over, and the decision will be made then. I think that’s how it used to work with Trannon.

As a freshman who will have missed 3 months of practice (assuming a bowl game; knock on wood), I don’t think he’d be much more than another body for practice this season. I also wonder whether all the muscle Sims has added will be somewhat counterproductive on the basketball court.

I remember speculation about whether Sims had any potential to play on the wing. I know pads add a lot but I saw him on the football field and gave up on that pretty quick. He’s huge.

Last thing I....

…remember reading was that if Sims had redshirted, he was going to switch to basketball at thiss time of year, but obviously that didn’t happen.

He might be a useful contributor just by being a guy who can bang with much taller people, due to this size and strength. He’d be five more fouls for Izzo to use.
