"I went up to (Cousins) before the game and said, 'This is going to take both of us, I don't care who is in there,' " Nichol said.

" 'You do your thing and I'm going to do mine and we're going to come out with a win.'

"I mean, we're together. This competition is over, we're a tandem, we're a team."

P.S.

Dantonio says Cousins is the “first-team guy.” And the ankle should be OK.

Excellent

That is great news on both accounts.

Surprisingly...

…it looked like the rotation within series was better for not interrupting the offense’s rhythm.

I’d still rather see just Cousins, or mostly Cousins with Nichol brought in to run some read option plays or the like, but I guess this is what we’re going to get.

I"d also like to see both guys in at once for a gimmick. Just line Nichol up at WR or even RB a few times and give the defense something to point and yell about.

I was thinking the same thing: put them both in the backfield.

In one of my sillier moments (may or may not have been alcohol-fueled), I considered putting both in the backfield with the possibility of the center snapping the ball to either one. All kinds of crazy plays available here. Snapping to Cousins and having him hand off to Nichol who rolls out and throws downfield.

I did think the within-series rotation worked much better than the alternating series rotation. Looks like MSU is bound and determined to keep rotating QBs. Theory must be that you use all weapons available to you when they provide even the slightest advantage.

Cousins is surely the better.......

……passer and leader of the team…….however I was suprised and his mobility in the michigan game…..made some great scrambles……I do like Nichol playing but I think it has to be for less and less time……Id say more around a 85/15 spread……nichol is tough and can come in and run the ball a bit…….Like the tandem none the less……GO STATE!!!
