Game Thread: Spartans vs. Crusaders

Nothing like this today, please.

I'll be MIA for all of this one due to Sunday afternoon activities of a familial nature.  Enjoy the game.  If you can't get fired up about second round action in the LEGENDS CLASSIC, what can you get fired up about?

(Totally not trying to jinx the team by making fun of the tournament they're playing in.  I'm already on record as being a bit nervous about this one.)

Chris Allen

will be the player of the game.

Wow, KJ

Nice reverse-jinx video.

Wow

Lucas, Allen, Summers, Morgan(!), and Sherman? I wouldn’t have predicted that starting line-up.

Leaping ability and vertical quickness

Roe does look like a differently player; no doubt about it.

by intrpdtrvlr on Nov 22, 2009 11:09 AM CST reply actions

Right

It’s funny because his jumping and athleticism are bailing him out for being out of position. Of course, I’m not sure that’s going to work against Ed Davis.

What's on Roe's shoulder?

Also, love the improved free throw shooting.

I sincerely believe

that in two years, Derrick Nix will be the feature of pre-game packages such as, “A major question for Louisville today is how they’re going to handle Derrick Nix. Nix was a nightmare for North Carolina in the Elite Eight going for 24 points and 11 rebounds.”

Of course, free throws need work.

by intrpdtrvlr on Nov 22, 2009 11:21 AM CST reply actions

Maybe next year

and 35 pounds from now. This year his conditioning is going to be a constant hamper on his game.

Nix freethrows

I’m still hopeful that Nix my prediction of two made free throws will com to be, but just one made would be a step in the right direction, maybe even a trend.

beautiful

If Allen can do that consistently, this team has a whole new dimension.

Draymond Green

I’ll take players who scream when they miss a rebound all day.

T shirts

They are getting some under-the-table money from Nike to wear them.

Do we have a more ruthless 3-pt shooter than Korie Lucious? There is no one I’m more confident in when I see an open deep shot go up.

by intrpdtrvlr on Nov 22, 2009 11:36 AM CST up reply actions

couldn't agree more

if he was even 6’3, he’d be deadly. Tough to get a shot off when you’re 5’11

by dcspartan1 on Nov 22, 2009 11:38 AM CST up reply actions

Id take Summers first.

With Summers he takes a couple less and seems to really get great shots. I think every shot he takes is going in

Was a nice pass from Korie

As long as he learns the when and where to make those kind of passes ill stay happy

Right when the football team knocks the wind out of me

There’s the hardwood squad, picking me right back up.

I love these guys.

Thank you MSU hoops

Early sunday game after yesterdays football debacle is the perfect medicine.

Great pass Lucious

this reminds me more and more of our 2005 team

shannon brown = raymar morgan
kelvin torbert = durell summers
draymond green = allen anderson
chris hill = chris allen

biggest comparison to be made is there are so many people on our roster who can be on the receiving end of an alleyoop – athletic wings opens up so many options for Izzo’s offense

by dcspartan1 on Nov 22, 2009 11:51 AM CST reply actions

Agreed

And says a lot about their potential. With Green, Lucas, and Morgan, this team may have a legit leadership advantage over the 2005 squad and that will be valuable.

Yup

Freshman Neitzel was not nearly the PG Lucas is

I like seeing Sherman in there

but he has a ways to go. Biting on shot fakes hard, 3 seconds, etc. I still think that he can be a legit, fundamentally sound big over a 4 year career

The two-man game

Lucious and Green need to play the two-man game. They could have a great two-man game.

by intrpdtrvlr on Nov 22, 2009 12:24 PM CST reply actions

two thoughts

Suton’s hedging on screens last year have spoiled me. He defended high ball screens so well, it’s hard to appreciate the effort on the floor right now.

Also, Lucious with only 4 TO’s on the season is impressive, particularly since he used to jump before he would pass and end up turning the ball over. Muc better at letting the game come to him this year

I think Nix took about six steps.

Well, lucky is more accurate. Glad to see him shooting like this though.
