GAME THREAD: MICHIGAN STATE VS. WESTERN MICHIGAN

Western Michigan Broncos at Michigan St. Spartans, Nov 7, 2009 11:00 AM CST

Large_1cousins05_medium

Sadly, this is a pretty big game for our bowl hopes . . . but it's also a rare mid-season opportunity to get the offense and defense back on track by playing a clearly weaker opponent.  Let's hope we can take advantage of the opportunity.

I have to take the silly MPRE in the morning, but I should be back for the second half.  Until then, the place is yours.  Go State.  Please.

MPRE?

Uh? Peeing in a cup? Just kidding. What is the MPRE?

This game is huge for MSU having any shot going to a bowl game.

Baker

He has huge quads. His body reminds me of Ringers.

Ha ha ha.

I was pissed MSU was in an I formation with two TEs. Ha ha ha.

No HD

I am bummed there is no HD feed for this game. I spent like $60 to be able to record the games in HD and now I’m back to SD. :(

Cheap Shot U

Isn’t that the 3rd roughing the passer penalty?

by DrDetroit on Nov 7, 2009 11:41 AM CST reply actions

And that 2nd one

was the kind of late hit you see QBs get seriously hurt on. Thankfully, Cousins was fine.

Nichol

They brought him in for just one play? Odd decision. I’m A-OK with him getting an entire series or two in this one.

That is when I think he should play.

Leggett appears to be a much better option on the goal line.

Granted, it’s WMU… but unlike Baker, he can run through guys.

Ask that Bronco safety.

Good medicine

I think WMU is 0 for 8 on third down conversions.

Figures

Minnesota’s offense has disappeared against Illinois.

by Con-T on Nov 7, 2009 12:44 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Yeah, I noticed that

Good for our bowl positioning if they lose, I guess.

Nichol

Should we see a lot of
 him in the second half?

by Con-T on Nov 7, 2009 12:58 PM CST via mobile reply actions

So, I missed the first half and I'm getting the Minnesota-Illinois game on BTN.

This game is probably a lost cause for me. Anyone wanna briefly explain what’s happened so far?

Summary

Leggett with a long TD on the first series and two goal line scores. Cousins near perfect, spreading it around. Defense adequate so far.

by Con-T on Nov 7, 2009 1:08 PM CST via mobile reply actions

All good things.

Alright

21 points a little tighter than it should be. Need one more Cousins TD drive. Then Nichol can go the rest of the way.

Purdue 38 UM 36

Forcier sacked on 2-point conversion attempt. Purdue recovers onside kick. 2 minutes to go.

Purdue got HOSED on a fair catch interference penalty, BTW.

Without having seen the game

49-14 is everything I could have reasonably hoped for. Nice bounceback, State.
