According to a league official, the Big Ten will release a statement Tuesday saying the matter has moved to the front burner.
The first sign of change came from former Wisconsin coach Barry Alvarez, who told Wisconsin's athletic board on Friday that Delany "is going to take this year to really be more aggressive about it. I just think everybody feels [expansion] is the direction to go, coaches and administrators."
A league source on Monday cited a "growing groundswell" of support among athletic directors for expansion.

My only wish....
is that if they do add a 12th team, they don’t divide the conference into divisions.
Keep it one division, have a tie breaker setup to seed a #1. Their opponent would be the team with the best record whom #1 has not beat.
I doubt they’ll do that though.
I'd have to check the rules
But I’m pretty sure NCAA rules prohibit a championship game without having a) at least 12 teams, and b) 2 divisions. Given that the primary motivating factor here is to have a championship game, a 12-team single-division conference ain’t happening.
"Do not cheat your team or your teammates. Know your plays. Block. Protect. Add to what we are trying to do."

Damn you knowing more than me!
“Bylaw 17.11.5.2-© allows a conference to stage a football championship game between divisional winners only in leagues of at least 12 teams.” From the NCAA.
I’m now trying to find if they defined divisional winners.
Statement at 4:00. No press conference.

I say blargh. That's right, blargh.
I’d rather be more like the Pac 10 than the Big 12.
If the issue is more exposure, later adding a bye week/starting later would handle that almost as well as the extra hype of a championship game. The conference schedule maker could also lean on expected powers playing each other late. The Pitt-Cincy game had as much hype as the Texas-Nebraska game, no? If anything, blame U of M for draining the juice from the OSU-U of M game and us for never getting any with Penn State.
My personal hobbyhorse is going to 10 conference games. Then, the Big 10 champ would really be the Big 10 champ. For the first time, really.
MSU could play a Michigan MAC team, ND and the rest of the Big 10.
I agree
Play everyone.
Gary Moeller wanted the Big Ten to play everyone. Then something happened and his opinion was no longer valued.
Only Detroit Lions...
…coach to post a career winning record since the ‘50s. That’s a pretty tall accomplishment, so maybe we should listen to Moeller, however drunk or disorderly he might become. Especially when he agrees with me.

At least as far as wiki knows, he hasn’t coached since working under Dick Jauron in Chicago.
