In other draft day news,

Todd McShay is either much smarter or much dumber than 32 NFL GMs, as Brian Hoyer goes undrafted. Ten quarterbacks were taken in the draft. The final QB to go was Curtis Painter, who was taken in the 6th round by the Colts.

It is Todd McShay

who seems to have a lot of “in depth” analysis on players…unfortunately he also seems to be wrong more often than he is right.

I mostly lost respect for him before the PSU @ OSU game where he called the Penn State offensive line “only average”. This was the same line which Evan Royster was averaging about 7 ypc, and who at the time had given up only 6 sacks in 8 games. I’m not going to say “OMG the Penn State offensive line was the best in the country” but it was definitely one of Penn States biggest strengths on the year, and I have no idea how anyone who had done any real analysis on the team could just say it was “average”.

With all that said, though, I’m really surprised Hoyer didn’t get drafted, as I think he’d be a better NFL QB than a few of the guys who did get picked.

But at least it wasn’t embarrassing to have a live ESPN camera crew watching Hoyer watch the draft that didn’t draft him.

16-11 career as a starter? I say McShay’s dumber than the GMs, but that gives too much credit to both McShay and NFL GMs.

It doesn't matter how many points you put up

If your defense allows more points than you can score.

I'm surprised

Ringer was taken so low. I haven’t followed his draft stock much throughout the whole process, but I thought he’d be a higher pick than this? Either way, I think Tennessee is a good place for him, especially to work with Chris Johnson.

His injuries killed his draft status.

I think I heard someone describe him as “having the wear-and-tear of a ten-year veteran.” Some of that is Dantonio’s fault, no doubt, but he did have a couple serious injuries several years ago as well.

Tennessee’s a great organization, but, with Chris Johnson and LenDale White already there, it’s difficult to see how Javon will get any carries, at least initially . . .

it seems like

Tennessee’s coaches don’t care for White too much. They don’t believe he’s a long-term option for the team. Maybe they’re looking for Johnson to step into that every-down back role with Ringer there as a #2 guy.
