So, from what I've heard, this is basically all back on our old friend Digger Phelps's shoulders. Apparently, the series between MSU and Notre Dame started in 1908 and went to 1975 when Digger ended it. Cue '79 and Magic happens, sending Digger Phelps's best Irish team ever home (and hence his bitterness).
Brey Claims that Notre Dame would have done better last season if they had been in the Big Ten. Now, for a moment let's just ignore the obvious fact that PSU beat ND like a drum in the NIT, and that seven Big 10 teams made the NCAA tournament ahead of Penn State (And I would take NU over ND as well if they were to play). What I want to know is why MSU isn't playing the Irish. I mean, I'm sure Tom Izzo would love to give them a taste of Big Ten Basketball.
What I want to know is what's the deal on the current series. It seems a shame that they don't play. Is there anyway to shame them into playing us again? (I guess that would be a long shot with people as full of themselves as Domers.)
