Skills from the Agoge: Dantonio swipes MI QB Recruit, Joe Boisture from Boston College

(Bumped - an in-depth post on Boisture is coming tonight.  I'm having a hard time remembering more drama around a position commitment than QB for the 2010 class. - Pete)

In ancient times, young Spartans were trained in the agoge to become soldiers and citizens of Sparta. One of the important skills they had to develop was that they were given scant supplies, and were thus forced (and encouraged) to steal what they would need (if caught, they were severely punished).

Mark Dantonio channeled his inner Spartan today and pulled out his ancient training. MI QB prospect Joe Boisture has apparently broken his verbal to Boston College and is now committed to play for MSU. Boisture is a 4 star on Scout and currently the 14th ranked QB in the nation. On Rivals he is also a 4 star and considered the 4th best Pro-Style QB.

Now, I'm not going to condone aggressively pursuing other school's commits, but I think we can all appreciate the occasional poach, especially when it means keeping a kid in his home state and when it means more talent in the maligned Big Ten.

In addition to getting this commit, it appears that we will probably not be taking Robert Bolden. From what I've seen elsewhere, he wanted to be the only QB commit in his class. That's not terribly worrisome, except that it may make it more likely that he'll be heading to Penn State and he is a good QB. That said, we've got a good one here.
