Ohio State Named Preseason Favorite for 2009 Football Season
We're #3 (in the hypothetical future)!
Also: Greg Jones is preseason defensive player of the year.
Update: Stay tuned to SBN colleagues Hail to the Orange , Bucky's 5th Quarter, and Maize n Brew for live updates from Chicago today. Mr. Rexrode, of course, has your MSU-centric coverage. Mark Dantonio will have the floor from 1:30 - 1:45 CST; the Big Ten Network website will be streaming it live.
More from us on events (or what qualify as "events" at a conference media day, at least) later today and/or tomorrow.

Two day-after observations on the #3 thing
1) I suspect we barely beat out Iowa/etc. in the voting. The fact they don’t release the voting details—and only go 3 teams deep—makes the result seem more dramatic than it really probably is.
2) The fact we don’t have to play OSU was probably the tie-breaker for a lot of voters.
Finishing third in the league is certainly a reasonable goal—but I don’t think we’re a rock solid pick to finish there.
