Despite Ringer’s monster senior season, the Spartans still averaged only 130.2 yards rushing per game, the ninth-best total in the Big Ten. What does this mean? In my mind, that Michigan State will have a better rushing attack in 2009 – at least statistically. There is also no question that depth will be much improved. M.S.U. could go, given the potential of two incoming freshmen, six deep at running back, though odds are that the Spartans will feature a nice blend of three or four ball-carriers.
