I think it means something. It’s extremely rare that a sophomore is voted captain; the team must have a lot of respect/confidence in him for that to happen. Surely that confidence will factor into the coaches’ decision.
"Do not cheat your team or your teammates. Know your plays. Block. Protect. Add to what we are trying to do."
