Shame
No kittens. Just shame.
(The keen observer will note this is actually a photo of the first [unsuccessful] field goal attempt. To cap off this afternoon's suckitude, I managed to accidentally delete the photo I took of the second attempt.)

Good news, bad news
Good news: the QB competition is over. I actually feel good about this. Cousins was on point. 9.1 YPA.
Bad news: the offensive coordinator is still Don Treadwell
Good news: the O-line can manage some pass protection, Cousins managing with what’s given
Bad news: it cannot manage any type of meaningful run blocking
Good news: Blair White, even with his coverage mistake in the onside kick.
Bad news: no one else
Good news: lots of RBs
Bad news: none doing much with the O-line. Also one of them is Glenn Winston. Sorry, he may deserve a second chance, just not in the same campus where his victim is still struggling along. I couldn’t help feeling bad every time I saw him. All I can think about is what is AJ Sturges supposed to make of how his school is treating him.
Good news: the D is aggressive
Bad news: aggressiveness is well exploited by spread teams. This isn’t new. See PSU, OSU, NW (remember the 459 yards gained). Persistent problem against mobile QBs
Good news: Western, Purdue, NW
Bad news: Darlyl Clark, Juice Williams, maybe even Kafka and the seemingly unflappable Tate Forcier.
The O-line
Not having Nitchman killed Sparty. Absolutely killed them. The O-line held it’s own in pass protection but had no direction on the run. There’s no reason CMU’s linebackers and D-line should be able to get on top of Ray that quickly, just shouldn’t happen against a MAC opponent. They played better today.
