Hidden in the bloody-but-unbowed fluff:

"The Spartans made some notable changes to their depth chart, moving Kendell Davis-Clark ahead of Chris L. Rucker at boundary corner, and listing freshman running back Larry Caper with Caulton Ray as co-starters."

Rucker losing his starting spot

Recognition of Rucker’s shortcomings, or motivational tool?

L. Rucker, wow

My only guess for this move is that he had problems tackling. He did really well in coverage.

Depth Chart Changes

MSU also moved 10 Norman to a starting LB in place of 34 Denson. Now 34 Denson is backing up 43 Gordon.

So it looks like the staff like Norman but feels Gordon and Denson have not done enough.

Youth

I did not realize how young this team is. Almost everyone comes back next year.

We'll see if it works

I think we agree that the problems with the Defense are mostly scheme, not players. Of course, if the personnel changes “work” (improved defense due to facing traditional or, uhm, “not as good” offenses), then MSU will have learned the wrong lesson….
