Ugh

That near steal on the last possession actually pulled guys out of position

Light a man a fire, he'll stay warm for a day.
Light a man afire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Gus Johnson on Damian Johnson vs. Derrick Nix:

“Blood will be shed. Glass will be broken.”

by LVS on Mar 12, 2010 8:18 PM CST reply actions

Well....

not a good start guys. Let’s get our feet under us and settle in.

by rook34 on Mar 12, 2010 8:19 PM CST reply actions

Great drive by Kalin

I could get used to seeing that tonight.

Travel wooo

Light a man afire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Solid Go Green, Go White.

Should have something of an advantage with that. I can’t imagine that too many people came down from Minneapolis.

by LVS on Mar 12, 2010 8:20 PM CST reply actions

Our fans are bringing it

They made Minnesota shoot early in that last clock

Light a man a fire, he'll stay warm for a day.
Light a man afire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

I love the shot-clock chant

Still remember it making SportsCenter when we tricked Purdue into two shot-clock violations in one game with the late-start countdown.

by SpartanDan on Mar 12, 2010 8:24 PM CST up reply actions

Solid if unspectacular start.

1 turnover. Zero fouls (Morgan, that means you especially).

Let’s build on it.

by rook34 on Mar 12, 2010 8:22 PM CST reply actions

OT

Georgia Tech just upset Maryland. It’s been a crazy weekend.

Quarterback

One more of the many versatile roles the dancing Bear can fill

MSU is playing rough

This is the sort of game our opponents whine about.

by intrpdtrvlr on Mar 12, 2010 8:27 PM CST reply actions

Lots of awkward-looking stutter-steps for Minnesota

Thought they were lucky not to get called for traveling twice.

by SpartanDan on Mar 12, 2010 8:27 PM CST reply actions

Out of control

but he was dribbling the whole time

Light a man afire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

by Seer on Mar 12, 2010 8:28 PM CST up reply actions

Wow

that was a great, quick offensive possession. 2 man game between Lucious and Green, and then the great interior pass to Roe.

by LVS on Mar 12, 2010 8:28 PM CST reply actions

WTF was that Luscious?

Light a man a fire, he'll stay warm for a day.
Light a man afire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Interesting line-up

I have a feeling Roe, Green, and Morgan have not spent a lot of time out there all together this season.

by intrpdtrvlr on Mar 12, 2010 8:30 PM CST reply actions

Yep.

Hope we got all the bad play in our zone out of the way tonight and tighten it up tomorrow and Sunday.

by SpartanDan on Mar 12, 2010 8:35 PM CST up reply actions

Well, like Brian said

Michigan’s an all-or-nothing team. Hopefully they’ll be nothing the next two nights.

How did we miss that?

Man, they are murdering us on the interior right now

Both on offense and defense. Call a timeout, Tom.

by LVS on Mar 12, 2010 8:37 PM CST reply actions

Argh Lucious

His patented “drive and kick out to the other team” move leads to the usual result.

by SpartanDan on Mar 12, 2010 8:37 PM CST reply actions

Nice foul

by Seer on Mar 12, 2010 8:42 PM CST up reply actions

Odd line up

Sherman, Kebler, Lucas, Green, Morgan. On second thought, the only thing I’d change would be to take Nix back on the floor.

Exactly what I feared would happen

They’re not letting us get anything inside, and our guards are awful.

by LVS on Mar 12, 2010 8:44 PM CST up reply actions

Really need a good 4 minute segment here.

Don’t want to be chasing these guys down 10.

by rook34 on Mar 12, 2010 8:44 PM CST reply actions

We've done it once already this year

But that’s an experience I don’t care to repeat.

Although the one they just called looked like absolutely nothing happened.

How in hell

Did Minnesota lose to Michigan by 28?

by Con-T on Mar 12, 2010 8:51 PM CST reply actions

… Minnesota’s interior height isn’t particularly relevant.

Light a man afire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

by Seer on Mar 12, 2010 9:31 PM CST reply actions

I have an idea

When Lucious is running the point, let’s run set plays where he backs up to the halfcourt line and then suddenly accelerates straight ahead. I think he’d make his best passes that way.

by intrpdtrvlr on Mar 12, 2010 9:31 PM CST reply actions

Tubby would approve

I’m sure he likes fast break points.

by SpartanDan on Mar 12, 2010 9:32 PM CST up reply actions

It's complicated

Bring the wings up behind him and have them charge the hoop at the same time. Kind of a basketball equivalent of the Might Ducks’ “flying V.” I bet Lucious’s turnovers would drop significantly.

by intrpdtrvlr on Mar 12, 2010 9:35 PM CST up reply actions

Hoffarber

How do you keep leaving him open. You’ve got to overplay him to a ridiculous extent.

by Con-T on Mar 12, 2010 9:32 PM CST reply actions

Ugh

I hate that. We have the guy guarded and then in the split second there’s a switch he jacks one up for a three.

Insult to injury...

MSU sucks AND the refs are blowing.

by MooTheKow on Mar 12, 2010 9:38 PM CST reply actions

I'd call that a four-point swing

But given the way we’re shooting free throws, it’s probably only three.

The two night games have had horrible officiating. I reviewed that blocking call and it wasn’t close. Morgan was there well in advance.

Bummer 4 U guys-

I’m a Boilermaker fan (grew up in WL) but also bleed green (lived in Drew Namick territory- Muskegon- for a long time) and hate to see you guys outed so quicklt.

The silver lining? Big time wake up call for the team. The potential is there- the chemistry and the cookin’ needs a little salt.

Hopefully you shred through the first two rounds and make it to the 16 dance. Beyond that is gravy. All 8 cylinders- and you go to where you went last year- except in my neck of the woods (historically).

Good luck- chin up- and see you in Indy !!!!!
