Ohio State 73, Illinois 57
The Buckeyes have locked up a share of the Big Ten title--and the #1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. That's a nice position to be in, with the other two title contenders each facing two more games.
As for our Spartans, Tom Izzo is pulling out all the stops to try to ensure a win Thursday night.

I hate Ed Hightower.

I turned it off after watching Tisdale's fifth.
It was honestly painful to watch at times.

Conjures up memories
of that wonderful BTT game vs Wisconsin in ’08 where practically everyone fouled out. College basketball fans should chip in and pay for vacation for Hightower and fly him somewhere warm for the next few weeks.
Kudos to the Buckeyes
I was one of those lamenting their misfortune when Turner went down, but, in fact, they’ve been the most fortunate team in the conference. Turner came back far sooner than expected and, literally, not a single thing has gone wrong for them since. Playing with absolutely no margin for error they’ve walked the tightrope to a share of the title. If they draw Missouri or Mississippi State or some other team that can run them ragged in the tournament they’ll be in big trouble.
Yeah, I agree.
I think depth is going to cost them by, say, Sweet Sixteen time.

I don't know...
I’ve seen several games where Turner has just taken over in the last 5 minutes of the game. Not sure depth is really as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be. I guess we’ll see though :-)
My feelings on this.
Turner has to get in foul trouble eventually, and though I’m sure many would disagree, I really believe that the guy has gotten calls his way this year. Would that happen away from Big Ten officials?

True...
but I feel Turner’s supporting cast on the floor is better than either of those teams had. Bufford is a hell of a player when he is focused. Deibler is about as good as a shooter as you’re going to find in college hoops – and Lighty does pretty much everything well (great defender without being an offensive liability this year). I guess my point was those guys are good enough to keep them in any game… and Turner is good enough to carry them at the end even if the other players are starting to get tired. Look what they did to MSU late in the game after MSU’s furious rally to take a brief lead late in the game. Look at what happened when Ohio State was down against Purdue late in the game @Purdue earlier this year. I just haven’t seen many games this year where Ohio State was suffering due to fatigue late in the game — and even in a tournament setting I’ve never really bought the theory that playing an extra 4 or 5 minutes in the game is going to really that adversely affect your next performance.
Yeah, this
I wouldn’t want any piece of them in the Tournament.
Especially if Titus gets healthy.

I think thproblem could be THIS game rather than the next
A deep team that made them work on every possession would give them problems in that game, regardless of its effect on the next one. 4 starters going 40 minutes can get gassed. I think this happened in their loss to Purdue. Izzo complained that the team didn’t follow his game plan in East Lansing, which was to try to run on them.

In other venues
Michigan scored 83 points in 56 possessions to destroy Minnesota at Crisler. I hope they don’t have any more of that saved up.
I was...
…pretty shocked when I saw that score. Is it possible the Big 10 only gets four teams in, with Illinois and Minnesota being left out?

hard to say...
Illinois lost – but they at least have some quality wins on their resume. It isn’t like there are a lot of stellar bubble teams out there that are winning games and going to take Illinois’ place.
Has Lauderdale ever fouled out?
He is the biggest thug since Petway.
Hightower does not hurt us anymore, however, I agree he loves the spot light.
