Let no one doubt
That this team is tough. I can’t remember a victory that has ever been more quintessentially Spartan than this one.
And if that sentence didn’t make sense, I don’t care. I’m still shaking.
The most stacked bracket in the tournament
is now down to the 2nd, 5th, 6th and 9th seeds. This is madness!
Has anybody checked on Jud?
I know what happened to my heart and I’m a lot younger than he is.

Congrats on the win. Class A team you guys got there and great coach. You deserved to win this one.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
Thanks.
I know it’s easy to say in victory, but your guys showed an unbelievable amount of character and fight in the last couple of minutes.

Hey, you guys played a good game, and deserved to win as much as we did. I always appreciated Maryland and your gesture has raised my respect for Maryland and their fans.

Another one we made closer than it had to be
but – survive and advance.
Lucas injured his achilles (as per postgame interview with Izzo). I think that means he’s done for the year, unfortunately. That was one of the all time most exciting tourney wins in Spartan history!
At this point
You hope he recovers and doesn’t have any lingering effects in the future.

I would feel terribly if this not only ended his tournament run, but also foiled his plans for next year
What a potential catastrophe for one of the Spartans’ truly clutch players. Ugh.
+1
It would really suck if he can’t make a full recovery and this injury affects his pro career. If it is a significant tear I don’t think he’ll be ready for the NBA tryouts. I guess if he was planning to leave this year it will be up to whether or not he impressed enough during the season to not need to show up at the combine, and the prognosis for a full recovery from the injury. It is a really tough break for a great player.

Izzo says 85% chance it's an achilles tear.
Ugh. At least we have a few days to prepare for life without him.

Let's not forget...
Day-Day’s jumper to put us ahead as well. That was a crazy, intense and clutch last minute for both teams.

Give it up for the Soph's
Poised group.
Green making the open J, getting the ball upcourt without incident
Roe avoiding the pass coming toward his head and not trying to catch it
Lucious taking his time and getting to the open spot and of course burying the shot. We’ve all done it on our way off the court, 3, 2, 1 for the win…
Korie just did it for real!
What a weekend.

No kidding.
Gus was stuck with the boring games in Buffalo. That’s a travesty.

Press conferences
Is there a place online to catch all of these? It’s 2010, I’m thinking there’s got to be somewhere. Anyone know?
just a thought
and I probably sound crazy for it…but if Maryland does not press in this game, I doubt MSU scores 85. Would summers have been able to get hot from 3 without so many open looks off the press break? The press most definitely could have been broken a lot better but still, for as many bad plays that came of it, there were a lot of good plays as well.

That's what you get with press many times,
and that’s why Mr. Izzo doesn’t use it — and has usually liked playing against teams that employ it.
By the way did anyone notice who brought the ball down court on the final possession?
It was Day-Day. Just curious why Maryland didn’t pressure a “big” man bringing the ball down court up 1 with less than 10 seconds?
No small observation
He showed up to take the ball from the inbounds. Dribbled it down, had the poise to pass up a nutty 3 with shy of 3 seconds left, and found the better option Lucious where he was supposed to be. A-mazing.
BTW, how many non-superduperstar-heavy teams will have their game end with a last play involving only sophomores? Wow.
And typically I don't like it

Don't like the TO
Too tough to run a set play in a short period of time once you let defense set up.

You guys have a pretty classy coach, too
Williams seems like a really good guy who has paid his dues and had great success.

Yea the more I think about it (obviously really took me a while to get it together) Maryland didnt deserve to win that game. Michigan State was obviously the better team today.
I thought that Draymond Green traveled initially, but no excuses Lucious hit a great, open shot. Michigan State broke down a pretty pathetic late situation defense.
Lucious has ice in his veins
He stepped back to take the three ,.. a little string music. Raymar had a tooth broken and
and played big ,again. Summers was from another planet. Unbelievable!
Kudos to Maryland on a great game.
Purdue playing tough...
3 big ten teams in the sweet sixteen would be nice.
wtf...
how the hell could they give a&M that timeout??!?!?
Anyone else here...
just watch Kramer become the offensive force to will a purdue win in OT?
Kramer and Lucious with last-second Heroics...
Who’d have thunk?
Sweet 16 set
3 Big Ten Teams (3/5)
2 SEC (2/4)
2 Big East (2/8)
2 Big 12 (2/7)
1 ACC (1/6)
1 Pac-10 (1/2)
1 MVC (1/1)
1 Ivy (1/1)
1 Horizon (1/1)
1 A-10 (1/3)
1 WCC (1/2)
Big Ten has the most representatives. Best percentage of remaining teams from multiple bid conferences. 7-2 record after weekend one. Good job!
That's awesome...
suck it other conferences.
Contest update
Leaderboard through round 2 is posted. Con-T holds a one-point lead over rook34 and KJ.
Great win guys
The Big East can have the regular season hype. As for the Big Ten, we’ll take glory in March and April every time.
We certainly feel for the Lucas situation, but the second half today proved your boys are tough enough to keep fighting. Gotta love this time of year.
Lord, jager me strength.

Another Purdue fan to say...
Lots of character from your team today. The more I read & see highlights (I decided to save my game-watching energy for the late game) the bigger a win I realize it was.
Lucas’s injury is terrible and unfortunate, but you-all have a right to celebrate a bit extra tonight, and in a way a full-strength win never can quite match. Look ahead to UNI later.
