Around SBN: VIDEO: Austin Rivers' Buzzer Beater Finishes Off UNC

Stay a bit longer and dance? Don't mind if we do.

When was the last time Tom Izzo only had six players in double-digit minutes? Most improbable MSU NCAA run ever--making it all that more joyful.

Tale of two halves

First time we’ve ever thought that after a game, right?

First half was a rudderless ship. No purpose or focus. No executable plan. The second half was night/day different. I can’t wait to hear what was said at halftime.

It's going to be a good night.

One more to get to Indy

How much fun would a Final Four game against Butler there be?

by SpartanDan on Mar 26, 2010 10:57 PM CDT reply actions

yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It’s just amazing how players gathered themselves and performed in the second half. One more win to the Final Four.

The only big ten team still standing….

I actually had MSU beating Tennessee for the Final 4

and they said I shouldn’t rush the bracket ten minutes before the first tipoff…

Yes they did

Duke hit every big shot of the second half. We made them earn it.

Post game presser

You just have to be impressed with how mature, articulate, and thoughtful Draymond Green is for a sophomore in college. He seems to be the go to guy for the questioners.

Didn't see this live

http://noise.typepad.com/hey_joe/2010/03/tennessee-awaits.html

Evan Turner is the national player of the year, no questions asked, and he has been great for three years for OSU and the Big Ten. But his end-of-game display was not impressive. First, he shooed away Jon Diebler’s hand when Diebler tried to help him up after the final miss, then stormed off the court by himself without congratulating the Vols.

It's going to be a good night.

Did see it

He thought he was fouled, which he probably was. Can’t hold it against him too much.

by Con-T on Mar 26, 2010 11:17 PM CDT up reply actions

Replay showed that he wasn’t fouled.

by SpartanBoiler on Mar 26, 2010 11:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Turner had to know it was a legit block

He’d gone to a one-armed shooting motion by the time he released the ball. Firmly rejected back at him.

They should just call it a Draymond Green presser

The other guys really don’t need to attend the press conference. Do they at least get sandwiches or something?

Working on Pick 16 contest update

But I believe it’s down to rook34 and TMadison25 for the win. The only team surviving that rook doesn’t have is Tennessee, and he’s in the lead right now. Only TMadison and wbrianr have Tennessee, and wbrianr is too far back to catch up even if Tenn wins it all. I think this is the situation:

If Tennessee beats K-State and loses the title game, and the other half of the Final Four is Baylor-WVU, it will come down to the tiebreaker.
Any other scenario which does not include Tennessee winning it all, rook wins.
If Tennessee wins it all, rook needs Butler to defeat K-State AND either Duke or Kentucky to make the title game. If Tennessee beats any of K-State, Baylor, or WVU en route to the title, TMadison wins.

Where was St. Mary’s tonight?

by Con-T on Mar 26, 2010 11:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Sahman a no show?

Didn’t see much, but it looked like they were all over him and he had foul trouble. I really expected St. Mary’s to win, based on their previous two.

It's going to be a good night.

by Spartalytical on Mar 26, 2010 11:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Full update is done

Interesting note: rook’s entry is the only one with more than half of the theoretically possible points right now. (Pick the 16 highest-scoring at the moment, and you’d have 228. KJ is in second with 113.)

One Advantage for MSU and Izzo

Purdue beat Tennessee early in the season (yes, I know they’ve had some turnover since then). Since Izzo is close with Painter, I’m sure he’s going to give him a call and get the scouting report. Maybe he does the same with Self, although I’m not sure how close they are since Self left the Big Ten.

I'm with you

I need some keys to the Y. The season that needed to end quickly just 2 weeks ago has another game and I can’t imagine life without it.
I love it when my team plays with “house money”.

I'll stop pretty soon

Delvon Roe: 27 minutes
Korie Lucious: 39 minutes, 4 assists, 2 TO
Durrell Summers: 37 minutes, 19 points, 7 rebounds

Very, very impressive.

This is what is great about March Madnesss

When the brackets came out lots of folks were lamenting the draw, saying the Midwest was the toughest bracket. Sometimes the planets align and lady luck calls your name. This is why the hoops tournament is so much better than the BCS system. Anything can happen and often does.

Amazing

Every year, despite actual regular season records, I have the Spartans making a deep run in my bracket, and you guys just don’t disappoint. Well done guys!
