Still gathering

Hope coach...
see’s what is going on with the “We Love Izzo”, very impressive for being organized so recently.
Eric Lacy
is loving this way too much. The guy is an absolute Twitter fiend.
According to Lisa Byington..
Izzo is waiting to speak to LeBron personally before making his decision.
Just speculating
If this report is accurate, it may not be a good sign for Izzo that he is having a hard time reaching LeBron. If LeBron was pretty excited to play for him, you’d think Izzo would have heard that already.
That's my first reaction, too

Interesting bit
about being frustrated not getting the ‘big time’ recruits that UNC and Duke pull. Wonder if there is any truth to that as it has always seemed to me that he took pride in getting the mid-tier 3 and 4 stars and turning them into productive players.
That part just doesn't ring true
Izzo knows his system isn’t conducive to elite one-and-done-type recruits: heavy emphasis on defensive effort, rebounding, and precisely-executed set plays.
Note that the article says the exec said that frustration with recruiting “could” be a factor. Sounds more like speculation than repeating something Izzo specifically said to the guy.

I've heard stories
of Izzo being upset over being charged by AAU coaches to see practice events and such. I think he’s sick of the dirt that associates itself with basketball recruiting at the high school levels as much as the reality that he knows this culture can thrive because other schools allow it to by playing ball.
Light a man a fire, he'll stay warm for a day.
Light a man afire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
Tired.
I’m sorry if this starts to sound negative, but I really hope this resolves Monday. I respect that Izzo needs to make an informed decision and that he doesn’t owe MSU or its supporters anything, but it’s going to be “proceed or exit the bathroom” time for me personally pretty soon. At some point in time, relentlessly gathering more information ceases to be about making an wise choice and becomes a way to avoid having to make a tough call with adequate information already in front of you. I hope that’s not where Izzo is headed.
Latest Tweet from Cleveland.com....
PDcavsinsider Source: LeBron James would approve of Tom Izzo’s hiring as #Cavs coach. “100 percent” high-placed source tells PD.
If this is accurate, this thing is over tomorrow morning before basketball camp starts, guys.
Get Gregory on the phone. It’s over.
Exactly who is the source "high-placed" with?
High-placed in LeBron’s entourage?
Does the top of the Cavs organization really know what LeBron wants or will accept? I thought he wasn’t calling the shots?

You have to wonder when and if Hollis doesn't step in and say, WTF?
This is beginning to make everyone involved look pretty bad.

I honestly think that people are getting so frustrated . . .
. . . with the lack of sourced information that they’re just making stuff up.

Betting on Lebron?
Getting ready to attend MSU each of us learns (one way or the other—sometimes the hard way) we shouldn’t choose a college because a girlfriend (or boyfriend) is there. One chooses (or should choose) a school because that destination is the best fit for them and that is where they want to be. For some people the pursuit of the individual works out in a match written in the stars. Though, by and large, such matches are with someone other than that first pursuit—the romance genre was practically founded on, “boy-meets-beautiful/perfect/flashy-girl, boy-pursues-girl, girl-reveals-shallow-interior, boy-falls-for-quieter-friend-who-has-been-there-all-along, and the couple lives happily-ever-after”. Should coach jump to the NBA now, I would wish him all the best in the world. However, I would really hope he would go because he feels Cleveland is the best fit for him, his family, and his aspirations, and not just because he’s trusting one player to make the job a success and putting his hopes on someone else. When asked about how many NBA Championships Kobe Bryant could win, the late John Wooden responded, “Zero, it takes a team to win a championship.”

Actually...
I take it back… since I could really care less about the NBA, the new career would become a non-entity in my world save for probably a small bit of disappointment and some very good memories if I were ever asked about it.

OH MAN
“still gathering”?
Is he continuing to collect information? Or is it a motionless assembly of people? I CAN’T DECIDE, TOO MUCH DRAMA.
;)
That is some stupendous word parsing
500 bonus points to you, sir.

I concur...
Coach Iz has always talked about putting MSU’s program on the top tier of college basketball, and by dragging his feet through this whole process he has shown that unfortunately we are still not there. Don’t get me wrong he has raised this program to a far higher level then it was when it was originally put in his hands and he deserves all credit for doing so… However, the simple fact that Coach K and Calipari immediately declare they are not going anywhere after a couple days of NBA rumors, while Izzo holds all of East Lansing hostage really shows that Michigan State is still not on top of the college basketball totem pole.
I am very thankful for Tom Izzo, but at this point he needs to decide if he’s going to walk away or try to raise MSU’s even higher than he’s already taken it. With the amount of talent on our roster and all the off the court issues we had last year Izzo’s successor(Brian Gregory) will need as much time as possible to get the team ready for another Final Four run if Izzo does end up leaving
SIDE NOTE: I give him a 25% chance of leaving, because when it comes down to it I don’t think Izzo while be able to look at his players (especially Kalin) and tell them he’s on to bigger and better things.

Izzo
has given us 15 wonderful years, I can’t believe how some of you are complaining about a guy taking a week to decide if he wants a PROMOTION that would pay him twice as much and really is his last opportunity to have a different career in life. He’s 55 years old, this is literally his last chance at a career change and it’s one he’s expressed at least a mild interest in making before. He has not held us hostage like tons of other college coaches, he’s not threatening to make a lateral move solely for the sake of money.
How much time would any of you take to make a life changing decision for you, your family, and possibly your legacy? Just because us fans and the media are obsessing over it does not mean he has been dragging this out. Regardless if he leaves or not it doesn’t take anything away from anything he has done here at State. I know the timing of Izzo leaving wouldn’t be ideal for us, but he’s earned this.

Whatever he decides I wish him the best
I’m not sure taking an NBA job is the way to spend more time with your family, if that is his thought process. The season is longer, travel is more frequent and for longer distances, and I can’t imagine the daily practice grind is any more relaxed.
My only quibble is that, just a few short weeks ago, he said he’d never consider leaving MSU until he won another national championship – I really don’t understand why he said that and then is considering an NBA job a month or so later, but I guess a guy is entitled to change his mind.
I also don’t get the bellyaching about us not having a shot at the best recruits or having a tougher row to hoe than the other college blue bloods. Thad Matta certainly gets his fair share of 5 stars and he’s not at UNC, UK, KU or UCLA. I think there is a perception out there than Roy Williams and Coach K can just pick up the phone and get anyone they want without doing any work. That may happen from time to time when a guy knows he just has to be at UNC or wherever, but my guess is that in most cases they have to put in just as much time on the recruiting trail.
I can understand being tired of the seedier side of recruiting, though, because it makes things tough on a guy who wants to run a clean program, and isn’t really good for the kids involved either. I hope Izzo stay mostly because the team we have coming back has the potential to do special things, and having him on the sidelines would give us the best chance to make those special things happen.
As this drags on
What strikes me about this decision is that it is feeling far more like a business decision than a decision of the heart. In my romanticized version of the story, I was hoping that the coach would look deep within his heart and come to understand that Michigan State is the place for him. There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home.
I don’t know where his heart lies, but it doesn’t feel like it is fully in Cleveland or East Lansing. When this is all over, I want whoever is our basketball coach to passionately want to be there. Every job has drawbacks and frustrations, but when you find yourself doing what you love, you accept them and grow from them.
Wondering too
At first, like most others, I figured the more time this went on the better our chances would ultimately be when the decision was announced. I’m no longer convinced of that.
It's going to be a good night.

This will not end well
Izzo, for all the hard work he has put into the program, is not dedicated to MSU and the BBall program. Sorry, but he shows no dedication to his players, staff, or student body. When outside forces can lure him so easy you have to wonder what motivation does he have to stay? I’m pretty sick of this whole mess where coaches get the big idea where they fit into the scheme of things.
The talk has been that ’He owes us nothing", this, after the university has provided him with the means to build his resume and rewarded him well monetarily and with elevation of his status not only in the state but nationally. I do not see him returning with the same drive to continue the job maintaining the high level State has enjoyed this past decade.
