Tom Izzo on Dan Patrick Show: 'I think (LeBron) thought he could've played for me' | MLive.com
Izzo on post-decision media tour. "Of course, not knowing what (LeBron) was going to do put some damper on it because of who he is. But I wasn't going to hold Michigan State hostage. I've got a great job. I've got a real good team coming back." -
Tom Izzo on Mike and Mike: Long season, short shot clock also factored into my decision | MLive.com
Probably a minor factor, but 24 seconds isn't very long to run the kind of well-structured half-court offense Izzo prefers. -
For MSU, Allen's future, Izzo's contract still uncertain | freep.com | Detroit Free Press
Izzo's mom didn't know what he was going to do as of Tuesday morning. Hopefully, that makes Lynn Henning feel better about the level of access he had.

I just can't see the Big Ten championship game being played inside and/or on artificial turf. I vote for Soldier Field every year. -
Divisions With Funny Names | mgoblog
Brian argues for swapping Penn State and Northwestern from pure East/West format for purposes of potentially setting up better championship game match-ups (I.E. OSU-PSU). Puts 4 of 6 traditional upper-division finishers in one division, though. Certainly works from an MSU perspective.

Big Ten Divisions: How Do They Work? - Brian Cook - The Sporting Blog - Sporting News
Take 2 from Brian. Concedes that "Unfortunately, there's no obvious winner." Which is an argument for sticking simple geography IMO. Overstatment: "In the last ten years, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State have had probably 90% of the conference's elite teams." Counting Nebraska, teams in geography-based East have accounted for 14 of 24 Sagarin top-15 teams (roughly BCS-bowl-level) over last 10 years--but that's entirely a function of Ohio State (7 top-15 teams) being in the east.

The Soccer Wars Are Over | The New Republic
I've always thought the "great American athletes automatically would have been great soccer players" theory was a bad one--except in the case of Barry Sanders. I'm convinced he would have been a world-class midfielder, with the combination of vision and freakish lower-body joints he had.
