Hey Joe! - Nix Kicks; Roe Gets Low
Good info from Rexrode about many players' conditioning this summer. Best stuff - Nix is running four miles around Lake Lansing, Roe has a full range of motion in his knee, and Gauna is stronger than anticipated.

Encouraging news all around
Hopefully Lucas will make a full recovery by mid season, if not sooner – that’s a really tough injury to come back from.
The news on Roe is encouraging because he appears to have developed more lower body strength and flexibility, which should aid his verticle and help keep him healthy. Maybe we’ll finally see him play at full strength this year.
If Green really is in as good a shape as they indicate, he may very well be able to defend on the perimeter and play the inside-out Raymar Morgan role. Basically, after two years of watching him wildly exceed expectations, I’m willing to believe he’ll be able to do whatever we need him to until evidence says otherwise.
Hopefully Lucious will make the sophmore jump in performance a year late, thanks to finally getting a fully healthy off season to work on his game and conditioning. Nix and Sherman both sound like they’re stronger and more fit. Gauna sounds like his strength and conditioning are already college-level. Our front-court looks pretty crowded all of a sudden.
Cowboy?
I’m still in shock that Andreas holds the all-time bench press record, and not someone like Big Al, Antonio, or Walton.
Agreed
Although how many reps you can do at 185 is presumably more a test of endurance than just maxing out on the bench press, where someone with more more size/strength would have the advantage.

Video of Day Day
Ignore the golfing part. The man is looking downright svelte.

He must stop that immediately
He looks like he’s going to pull something on every swing.

I literally laughed out loud at every swing
It's going to be a good night.

And I thought *I* was bad
When I pull out the driver, the direction the ball goes may be more or less random, but at least it goes.
Nix's weight
Great piece, makes me very impatient for the start of the season! The bottom line on Nix, though, is that he has lost very little weight. In theory, some of the flab has been turned into muscle. Nonetheless, my sense was that needed to lose some real weight to be effective. He sounds like a good guy, and pretty smart too, but I wonder if he is as driven as, say, Green or Roe appear to be. It can’t be that hard to lose weight on that body, when you are 19 and playing b-ball for a living.
On the other hand, the rest of the news sounds all good! Gauna sounds ahead of schedule, Roe’s progress is very very promising, and Sherman may make a big leap. I thought last year the team really suffered from its lack of a post presence, so this is all good news.
He looks thinner
And if he’s running four miles at a time, endurance (which seemed like the hurdle last year) shouldn’t be so much of an issue.
Light a man a fire, he'll stay warm for a day.
Light a man afire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
hope you are right
My sense is that his upside is just huge, because the kid has great hands, and pretty good footwork, in addition to his strength.
Payne & Roe
A lot of good info all-around, but I’m most pleased with the news on Payne and Roe. You always knew that Roe could play but was certainly limited by injuries. Monster year ahead of him. And calling Payne a high-energy guy to go along with his high-upside talent is huge. I’m thinking he may play a vital role on this year’s team.
