Rivals Updates Their 2012 Basketball Top 150
Good news as MSU ends up with three four-stars all in the top 100. Our highest rated recruit is Matt Costello at No. 57. Kenny Kaminski is No. 77 and Denzel Valentine is No. 95. Some other names of note include Gary Harris at No. 24 and Jordan Hare at No. 88.

Gary Harris
Also added to my FanPost: Harris getting looks from Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin for football. Crazy!
Makes sense
I heard about his performance and immediately thought “Wow, this guy seems good enough for IU football.” Is he interested?
itd be nice
to add harris somehow.
i like winning more. so hopefully these recruits can get it done. costello needs to hit that weight room.
Good Work by Izzo of course.
I think these kids are great and it does not hurt when Izzo attaches his name to something. Kind of like when Joe Blow gets offered by Duke and he catapults up 100 spots because they think Coach K knows something they do not and they do not want to miss it. I’m looking at you Brian Zoubek for every college season except his final year.
I feel good!
Everyone who reads my comments on here knows I’ve been campaigning for Matt Costello as a big-time recruit for some time. It was pretty gratifying to see him rated that highly, not to mention 30 spots ahead of Jordan Hare!
Looking the other direction
Costello’s only 17 spots (and zero stars) behind J-P Tokoto, who at one time looked like the definition of an elite recruit.
It seemed as if there were a number of commenters wondering why MSU would “settle” for Costello instead of going after Hare simply because Hare was rated higher. The ratings can be a helpful barometer of talent/expectations, but I wish fans wouldn’t consider them the ONLY factor in recruiting.
Yep, ratings are merely one guide
The thing I wanted to emphasize was not that Costello was/is better than Hare. There’s a lot of debate on that and they’re both going to have two years to make their cases as the premier post player in the 2012 class. What I really wanted to argue against is that there’s a consensus that Hare is this superior, elite talent and Costello is merely a blue collar, “solid” recruit who’s a step behind. This ranking is just a piece of evidence against that perception.
