MSU's Celek faces decision on surgery | lansingstatejournal.com | Lansing State Journal
Tough choice for Garrett Celek: Surgery now and miss the rest of the season or wait it out and maybe be back in 4-5 weeks. The fact that Celek already redshirted as a freshman may be a factor, as taking a medical redshirt would mean spending six years in the program.
The tight end position is suddenly looking less super deep, with Charlie Gantt and Brian Linthicum now the only two healthy tight ends in Mark Dantonio's good graces. Dion Sims has yet to play this season (for undisclosed reasons), although he is back on the depth chart now. Further, the season-ending injury to Josh Rouse has resulted in more two-tight-end sets or sets with a tight end lined up in the backfield.
Not a huge crisis, but does reduce Don Treadwell's flexibility in using different offensive formations a bit.
