I was at the MSU/UMd soccer game.

It was as intense an event as I’ve ever seen live. The students pack the stands directly behind the goals. Sea of red. Chants of “You suck Avery!” (our goalie) every time he touched the ball. Loud, Loud chants from end to end of “MICHIGAN” “STATE” “SUCKS”. It seemed like at least 5,000 fans at a college soccer game.

After the goal to put Maryland ahead (which was a beauty…side bicycle kick) the UMd fans were going nuts and MSU could have just as easily given up but scored off on tap after the goal (UMd seemed out of synch at this point…like they expected us to roll over). We were on defense most of the evening. We really stole one here (much like Germany over the US in 2002 in the WC).

I don't know

Technical stuff is above my head. Just want to be able to watch it. Although posting it on the site could be fun, too, I suppose.

penn state uniforms.

i don’t think the “what could’ve been” uniforms look bad, but they certainly don’t offer improvement over the classic design. i kinda wish a team would go throwback for the entire season. how bad ass would it be if we had green jerseys with no trim or piping, and only numbers in white, with plain white pants and a green helmet, no stripe, maybe with a spartan on one side, numbers optional?

Nike-izing

I’m on the fence about this style of jersey but I know this – I’m going to be bored, irritated, and disappointed in the college football landscape if every single team’s jersey becomes a variation on this theme merely with different colors. How dull and repetitious.

Nike is quickly becoming the Oakleigh of college jerseys

No offense to anyone who sports orange colored mirrored blades as their go-to sunglasses, but to me they are way too loud and busy, which is exactly what I think of every jersey Nike messes with these days.

On the Rouse injury – here’s wishing him a full recovery. Just to beat on one of my pet gripes, I really hope the program takes out very generous long term disability insurance on every single football player. I mean, Dantinio makes more than $1 million per year to NOT risk permanent debilitating injury. The least the university and football program could do for the guys who DO risk permanent debilitating injury is to make sure they are set up financially if the worst occurs.

"Very little depth at fullback"

QFT. When Fred Smith, former 5-star wide receiver prospect, is now your backup fullback, that says a lot about the situation. [And also about Smith, since he never lived up to his potential].
