Dueling Postgame Celebration Thread of Victory! MSU beats Gonzaga and Michigan!
Michigan State athletics received two great victories tonight beating No. 22 Gonzaga 74-67 on the road in Men's Basketball and getting a 4-3 shootout victory in Men's Hockey over arch-rival Michigan! Tonight is a good night to be Green! We'll have recaps coming up later but, for now, it's celebration time! That Draymond guy is good, huh?
Music's my choice this time! Excuse the noise and let your Spartan love come down!

Two HUGE wins.
We needed to take one of the Michigan games in hockey to prove our start wasn’t a fluke, and we needed that win on the road in a hostile environment before B10 season starts.
gr8 wins both teams.
hockey was thrilling and bball game was gr8. the bigs played really really well.Green had the best game of his career. Payne and Nix-Kudos!
Where was Dawson?
Appling, Wood-disappeared in between.
Dawson isn't himself
I’m not sure how much of it is a lingering knee injury and how much is mental. I hope it’s mostly the latter.

Dawson
I agree that getting him back on track needs to be a top priority. We kept hearing about his freakish athleticism, and nose for rebounds, and early on vs. UNC he was everywhere. But since he twisted his knee that game, we just haven’t seem the same performance level put of him.
If he can regain his mojo he will be a huge asset in B1G play.
Just think how much better this team can be
If Byrd and Dawson can get things straightened around and we don’t have to get so many minutes from Thorton.
Proud to be a Spartan tonight
Gritty win for the Hockey Team- surviving some cardiac moments.
The Guys on the hoops team maintained their composure tonight in a tough environment.
Munn was awesome tonight.
It was a sellout, and at least 95% MSU. If you haven’t seen a hockey game yet this year, I highly urge you to come out.
Apparently
Joe Rexrode just tweeted that that little maggot Stockton was trash-talking Appling late at the the line reminding him he was a McDonalds All-American with 4 points.
Dude, you were a walk-on, at Gonzaga, a school your dad played at. You had your one big moment tonight. Now please, drift back into obscurity, you little rodent.
That's interesting that he was so aware of Appling's stat line,
He apparently ignored then stat showing msu leading for the last 19 minutes of the game.
Outrebounded by Gonzaga
Great win but I can just see Izzo gritting his teeth on the plane ride home thinking about the rebound deficit as well as the missed free throws near the end.
There were a few weird bounces
And I really think that box score cannot have been correct on the ORs. Izzo always appreciates the fodder though I’m sure.
It's always good to be Green!
Nice wins tonight. Hope Dawson gets right soon. I’m a consistent Thornton hater but he played very good D tonight. And Appling locked Pangos up most of the way.

Good lord.
Can we be happy about a big road win without picking at individual players and stats?

sure, i'll reply to myself.
Bit out of bounds with that comment. Sure, our guys can get better, but that was a hell of an effort in a tough place against a team with a week to prepare. Impressive by any measure.

Sounded good to me from India
I had to listen to the game on the radio feed as I’m on a voluntary teaching assignment in India. I consider it a big victory. Unfortunately, I’ve had to adapt to following my favorite team from a far with radio feed, poor streaming feeds, and delayed celebrations. One important factor in the team’s growth may be the more reasonable schedule this year. It seems to have allowed Izzo to get more playing time for the new players and to sort out a rotation and has still provided several challenging games. I’ve long been a proponent of dialing things back a bit.
I like what I’ve seen and heard thus far. I only wish that Delvon would have been healthy enough to be a part of it. I imagine he would have provided some valuable minutes.
Dude you really think
that opening against the number one team in the nation (who was also a team that has creamed us the last few games we played) on an aircraft character, a reckless and ridiculous idea when you think about it, in front of the president, and then following that with another top 5 team in Duke at Madison Square Garden, and then following that with five games, each only two days apart is reasonable?
Just playing around, but seriously I disagree because I think it’s the fact this schedule is so tough as usual is a good thing and will bode well in march.
Great to see Nix/Payne do well
against a good big man, that’s a great sign for this team’s development. Was distracted a bit during the game but seemed Green took a lot of 3’s again but happened to make them this time. I really think this team has the guts to make a nice March run if they keep working and progressing. These kids are gamers! Can’t wait to see them in person next Mon night, been too long.
He only took 5 threes
Seems like he always trys 3-5 of ’em. Pretty sure all of the looks were good, and he was feeling it. only had one “lucky” bounce, the rest were pure.
Draymond's 3's
normally i’m not comfortable with him taking 5 3’s, but i have said and will continue to say, the only time he should take a 3 is in a pick and pop situation, and IIRC, only one last night was not a pick and pop, and he made that one. I have a big problem with him taking 3’s early in the shot clock that have nothing to do with an offensive set, but last night there were none of those.
