Purdue 67, Michigan State 47: Aftermisery Thread
Not enough anxiety in your life? WELL DO WE HAVE THE SOLUTION FOR YOU! Two must-win games against 1) a team which beat the Spartans by 20 earlier this year, and 2) an archrival currently playing at their highest level in years!
Buckle up, folks. It's going to be a wild week.
P.S. JaJuan Johnson is good at basketball.

MSU will go 2-0 this week
Guaranteed or your money back.
Second offensive option
It would sure be nice to have someone else who can score a little. Green was off tonight, but most games he does fine as that option. The difference between 16-12 with this team and being 19-9 or 18-10 is having someone else who can step up and get some points.
I don’t think Nix is a good matchup defensively for Johnson (but let’s be serious- who in the country is?) but he might have been good to bang around in there some.
I hate it coming down to a road game at Michigan, but if any coach in the country can get a team ready for such a crucial game, it’s the one we have.
I couldn’t have imagined it would come down to this before the season…

Feeling confident
About Iowa at home on Senior Night.
I think a lot of the UM game will come down to our ability to score without Kalin Lucas.
Inside scoring from Green / Roe where we have an advantage and Summers scoring 10-15 would be amazing.
10-15 from Summers
puts them well above most teams they’ll play. But I can’t say I’ve seen any indication that he’s capable of that anymore.

3 game win streak=unreachable
This team hasn’t more won than 2 in a row all year(Chaminade) doesn’t count.
I thought a breakthrough road win would signal the end of the season will be better than the beginning, maybe that can still be true.
Also, I submit they abolish the “white out”. Nobody uses typewriters anymore. Didn’t they try this last year against Purdue? I think the white background actually helps the visiting team.
How about a Green Day or better yet just come as you are.
Play 40!
Well that was ugly
In all honesty I wasn’t expecting a win, but still…
The court
I think I know what it is that caused what has happened this seaseon.
A season that, rightfully so, began with so much optimism, and has devolved into this stressful mess that could very well culminate with the end of the Izzo era Big Dance streak.
Even though my explanation is completely illogical, so is what has happened, from Chris Allen getting himself booted, to the injury bug biting nearly every player who actually sees the floor, to the proclamation, then disappearance of, then emergence, then re-disappearance of Derrick Nix, to msu opponents shooting lights out in the mid-conference play, to KL2, it seems nearly everything this season has defied logic.
Its the court. More specifically, the removal of the big, block S in favor of a Spartan helmet.
That big, block S had come to be a great symbol for MSU, and annually on senior night, part of one of the greatest tradititions in modern college hoops.
Now? A generic, “300” esque Spartan head. Might as well be at San Jose State’s arena.
What will Lucas, Summers & Kebler do now when they get their final bow at the Bres?

Must Win @ Michigan
Anyone else notice that Michigan has the entire week off (Saturday to Saturday) before they play us at home? Meanwhile we play two games in-between?
Just to makes things all the more tough.
Agreed.
They have been playing pretty well- it might throw that off.
Also, they are a young team that will have all week to think about how big this game is for them.
How nice would it be to get Kalin some rest against Iowa on Wednesday?

I doubt KL will get some rest against Iowa.
I am pretty sure that he will have to play 39 minutes. I just hope the seniors have some moments so that they can kiss the S.
What a tough season for being a senior!
What S are they supposed to kiss?
Do they go to Spartan Stadium to do that?
There’s no S at mid court.
Why did they leave the S on the football field but not Breslin anyway?
I thought the whole uniform change was so all of the teams could be identified with one logo and one uniform type.
Needless to say the S did the football team a lot of good except for 2 days of their season, I wish it was still on the floor.
Play 40!
Perhaps.
I think I’m more worried about us, and the fact that Lucas is going to be playing his 3rd near-40 minute game in 6 days.
