INDIANAPOLIS, IN - MARCH 10: Draymond Green #23 of the Michigan State Spartans drives for a shot attempt against Melsahn Basabe #1 of the Iowa Hawkeyes during the first round of the 2011 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament at Conseco Fieldhouse on March 10, 2011 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The four-factors graph shows just how close this one was.
Both teams hit the same number of twos (18) and threes (4). The difference was at the foul line, where MSU had 5 more makes on 6 more attempts. I would say that the Spartans won this on the boards, but mainly they won this because of Draymond Green. He put the team on his back on an off-night for Lucas, grinding out 21 points on 23 shots and pulling down 14 rebounds. He also had 4 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 4 turnovers and only 2 fouls. There was even a Durrell Summers sighting, as he made a couple of big plays late to help ice the game, after being nearly invisible in the first half.
The Spartans face a tall hill next in the Purdue Boilermakers. They have not been competitive with the Boilers in the two meetings this year and now they'll have to do it with a hobbled Lucas. Stranger things have happened. The game is scheduled to tip at 6:30 PM.
