Well, one of them is going to be completely invisible.

Purdue didn’t even hit 10% on the offensive glass.

How about

No one will remember anything from the regular season

If not, whatever. We did what we needed. What a great game. We played like Spartans!

Great effort

3 stars go like this.

  1. Mike Kebler – Tied career high and played terrific defense
  2. Delvon Roe – Monster on defense and boards plus some big post ups late.
  3. Kalin Lucas – Need I say more?

He's a very good rebounder for a guard

During last 8 games he’s averaging 4.8 rpg.

Big reason why the Charlie Bell comparisons seem so apt.

Prior to the game, I believed that MSU could take this one. But by that scoreline? Not a chance in the world. That was an absolutely unbelievable, complete, fantastic, inspired performance. Best since at least the Tennessee game last season.

That was a thing of beauty.

I particularly loved the three-minute possession after we had taken control that consisted of five missed shots, five offensive rebounds, and finished with an alley-oop.

if they beat OSU

then we get to (hopefully) face them for the championship. Are you kidding? I love to wipe the floor with them and get that trophy for the first time since god knows when. Im used to MSU being out at this point. And Ive now gotten way to used to losing to UM, lets exact some revenge.

But first things first

by Loneytunes on Mar 12, 2011 4:11 AM CST up reply actions

I think we just went to the top of the bubble heap.

But even so, we’re definitely ahead of BC, Georgia, Colorado, and probably Illinois (and even losing to Penn State wouldn’t hurt us badly enough to undo that). And we’re probably ahead of most of the teams that are still alive (Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, VT) as of now; unless a bunch of them pull upsets tomorrow we’ll stay that way.

Our chances might not be 100% right now, but they’re probably 99.9%.

Sticking with the Dumb & Dumber theme today regarding State

by Chris in Kzoo on Mar 11, 2011 8:20 PM CST reply actions

Well its obvious

that there is some advantage of getting the legs moving a day early and then meeting a bye team (this effect is definitely lost in the 3rd or 4th game though).
I wonder how this will effect the 12/5 or 11/6 match ups with the teams that played earlier in the week. Not only will they not be sitting all week but their opponent will not know what team to prepare for until later in the week. I would not be surprised at all to see a few upsets in those games

Off the top of my head, I can’t remember any Spartan doing so since Chris Hill hit 10 3’s in a loss again ’Cuse and Carmelo.

Badgers are back to within 4. Closed half on 14-2 run.

PSU missed their chance to bury them (only 2pts in last 10 min). It’ll come back to bite them—I bet the Badgers win this going away. I hope I’m wrong, though.

Lights out

Describes the way we played and my reality. The electricity went out during half time. After a few well-placed f-bombs, I headed to the local sports bar and caught most of the second half. Just a gutty performance by a team that has been looking for a game like this. I missed you TOC guys, but the crowd at the bar was decidely pulling for State. The guys are going to be spent physically tomorrow, but flying high emotionally. Should I root for Penn State, or do we want them out of the discussion? In any case, I’m looking forward to dancing again.

Maybe we did need today's win.

Clemson, VT, Michigan, PSU, St. Mary’s, Alabama, Richmond, Memphis, UTEP all win; USC and BC are done; Georgia, Colorado, and Illinois would have been close calls for us even with the loss.

That said, of the bubble teams in contention: with today’s win we’re clearly ahead of Georgia, Colorado, USC, BC, the UTEP-Memphis loser, St. Mary’s, Utah State (if they need an at-large) and probably Illinois as well. Which means the nightmare scenario now is a First Four game and even that isn’t likely.
