Connecticut's win last Saturday means the prize situation became much clearer.  Here's where we're at:

In the Pick 16 contest, my2fish has won, and vert_et_blanc has clinched second.  Third prize is still up for grabs.  Pinyan will take third if Butler wins, and if Connecticut takes the title djbsquared will nab third prize.

ESPN - Tournament Challenge - Group  In the traditional bracket contest, hascow has won and chose the 1949 MSC football program.  bas409 came in second and chose the Underground Printing gift certificate as his prize.  Like the Pick 16 challenge, third is dependent on tomorrow's champion.  If Butler wins the JustinTymeSports.net MSU mini hoop will go to Westblade, and if UConn wins the hoop will go to Halluck.

 Michigan State punter Mike Sadler tops depth chart in battle to replace Aaron Bates | MLive.com  Sadler, after one year at MSU, expects to have senior standing in the Fall and will look to complete his bachelor's and master's degrees in Applied Engineering while punting.  I feel so inadequate right now.

Spartans' Jeremiah, Klatt out for spring - Big Ten Blog - ESPN  Klatt broke his foot, so while he's out for the Spring he'll most likely be back for the fall.  Jeremiah has an ACL injury (no word as to the severity of the injury that I've seen); his status for 2011 is hazier.

New MSU receivers coach thinks 'Bad Moon' Rison rocked | detnews.com | The Detroit News  A look at Terrence Samuel, State's new wide receivers' coach.  He's coached defensive positions as well, and had this to say on the subject:

"When you've got a guy that has coached on the defensive side you can truly tell that the technique a corner is playing is suspect," he said. "That makes things so much easier when you're trying to pick out who's the wounded animal to go at."

Works for me.

MSU softball: Spartans open stadium with win over Wisconsin | Lansing State Journal | lansingstatejournal.com  The MSU women rang in Secchia Stadium in style as they invoked the mercy rule after five innings to win 8-0.  The second game of the series didn't go as well, as the Spartans lost 10-4 to the Badgers.

Baseball Falls at Iowa, 19-7 - MICHIGAN STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE If you're wondering how a game can get out of hand like that, 10 of Iowa's runs were unearned on five errors.  Criminy.  State still won the series though, as they took the first two games 7-2 and 7-1 in Iowa City.
