Point of Order
Mike "the Situation" Sorrentino of Jersey Shore is going to be a #Spartan fan this season. Catch him at a game in Spartan Stadium.
To which the only appropriate response is:
And finally,
fin. [EDIT: As tbone521 points out, this may not have been arranged by the athletic department, although I doubt THE SITUATION goes anywhere without receiving an appearance fee for doing so. Either way, it's not something I'd be crowing about. Now, really, fin.]

Well
thats not going to help with the stereotype….
It's time for the alumni to call in
and make it clear he cannot be a guest of the university anymore than any other person who just buys a ticket to a game
Schadenfreude ist die schoenste Freude
No way it's that simple.
Dude doesn’t do anything without receiving an appearance fee, least of all showing up at a random college football game in the midwest. Still, edited to reflect Hollis’s response.

i dont disagree
guaransheed hell be on the field waving errrr fist pumping at halftime. id be shocked if he wasnt or at least had a field pass.
Hopefully
If he’s getting any appearance comp, it’s from a local place like Rick’s that caters to that crowd. I really hope Hollis puts out more details that MSU is not giving him the Gerard Butler treatment.
But I’m nervous. Why put something like this on twitter if the only thing he’s doing is going to be watching the game?
Schadenfreude ist die schoenste Freude
Even better
I hope he gets tackled by Sparty on the field at halftime.

catching flak
@MSUAD As an alum, a board member of a local chapter of the alumni association and a lifetime Spartan, I find this incredibly embarrassing
MSUAD Mark Hollis
@ @JasonJones25 He bought a ticket and is coming to a game. Wow.
@MSUAD We don’t need celebrity gimmicks like this. Come on, this guy is an absolute idiot and not an example of what MSU stands for
MSUAD Mark Hollis @Mindi51982 No gimmick, he just wants to watch the #Spartans play football.
Why announce it?
If he’s just buying a ticket to a game…how do they know?
Why is it headline news?
I’m from New Jersey, and I certainly represent the general population of the state far better than that Long Island jackwagon. Why is my presence at games not being tweeted about?
What a joke.
As am I.
I grew up 30 miles from Seaside Heights. Now the personification of everything embarrassing about home is coming to my alma mater this fall. Huzzah!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I’ve been on the local news a few times and those appearances actually didn’t devalue American society. Does this mean that Hollis will announce my future ticket purchases?

Easy Jersey.
I am a Spartan as well and from Long Island.
Just as we take issue being “represented” by big hair having, gum chewing illiterates, you probably take issue with the “Jersey Shore” crowd representing you.
I hope Snooki comes with him. I'd hit that.

I’m adding this to the “Bad Mark” list. Sorry, to love is to care, and to care is to point certain things out.
Maybe we can hire him to be an assistant hockey coach?
Hollis seems to be set on driving the hockey program into the ground already, and I think “The Situation” on the bench would be the last straw, right?
"It's a trap!"
students
students will love it and sitch is a funny guy no reason to hate, makes more money than all of us. And it is pretty obvious that Hollis is announcing it as a marketing tool.
There are...
…in fact many reasons to hate. My impression from people who watch “Jersey Shore” is that the point of the show is to hate and ridicule the cast. So, it’s this fellow’s job to be hated. I only know it from the clips they play on “The Soup,” am I wrong?
But, he’s no more of a buffoon than a lot of people whose buffoonery is taken much more seriously by society.

not at all
you dont hate the cast, you basically think its funny that it they are acting so stupidly, its pretty entertaining. I do not understand why so many people are upset. And for those saying he is not a celebrity, i am sorry but like it or not he is. I don’t get the bitterness towards this guy, sure he might be an idiot but i am guessing most of you don’t even watch the show. I watch it as I am a college kid and it is a great pregame on a Thursday night, but it is a celebrity that wants to come to a state game, no reason to be upset.
There is so much wrong with this
I can’t even begin, because I’ll go off into some kind of serious self-deprecating generational rant.
marketing "tool"
has never been as appropriate as it is here.

No. Just, no. Stop what you are doing, Mark Hollis, and walk away.
If anyone actually sees the jersey douchebag walking toward the stadium on gameday, please direct him toward Rick’s (or just any opposite direction that leads him away from the stadium). This is beyond embarassing, and pretty stupid. What does this POSSIBLY do for the program other than open us up for cheap shots from rivals? I was perfectly fine with it when it was Gerard Butler. The Situation is not a celebrity. He is not an actor. He is not known for anything except acting like a moron on a staged television show on the worst TV network there is.

As an MSU fan...
..who hates “300” for taking the greatest story ever told and making a really crappy movie from it, I realize I’m swimming upstream on that one. But this ought to be beyond the pale.
I think I’d pay good money to watch Mark Dantonio watch “Jersey Shore.” That’s a charity event the university should look into.

I wasn't that enthused about Gerard butler
But I seem to be in the minority on that one

It's not the greatest, no.
I was pretty neutral on it. I see the connection because of the popularity of the movie, and that’s fine to me. ESPECIALLY if you put it alongside The Situation making an appearance.

Anyone can buy a ticket
He should be treated just like any other ticket buyer; no special privileges. No on-field pass. No announcement that he is in attendance, etc.
300 is awesome and your a clown
As an MSU alumn no movie will ever do justice to what actually happened at Thermopylae but it’s still a great movie. So stop your nonsense if your a man and don’t like that movie you need your card taken away.
Mike obviously forgot where Rutgers is and this is a complete joke we better not pay him a dime and if we are we should at least have got Pauly D or Vinny because they actually crack me up.
because nothing says masculinity
like enjoying cartoonish violence.
also, i hate to point out grammar errors, and this is the only time i would ever point it out, but it’s you’re, not your. you clown.
Hey, I like...
…cartoonish violence. But I like good cartoonish violence. Ergo, not “300.” And I the gender nonsense is gender nonsense. I married a nice Spartan lady who agrees with me that “Shoot Em Up” was a very good time. (This would be a film which features a baby being born during a shootout and Clive Owen cutting the cord with a gunshot. Also, having sex with Maria Bello during a (different) shootout.) It was silly and fun, while being ridiculously over the top. “300” was just dour and boring, while being ridiculously over the top. Bad combo.

No. None of them would be better than any of them.
Period.
