Dwaun Anderson Will Not Enroll at MSU this Fall
Rexrode has the story: Still dealing with the recent loss of his mother, Dwaun Anderson has decided to postpone his enrollment as MSU. There's no definitive word yet on when or if Dwaun will join the MSU basketball team. Obviously, everyone in the MSU family is supporting him and giving him time to deal with these important issues in Dwaun's own time. Please bare the sensitivity of this in mind with any of your comments - Josh.

Didn't know he was dealing with tragedy
Going away to college can be a tough step on the road to adulthood. One of the things that makes it easier is the knowledge that you can always go home to mom and/or dad and still be a kid. I can’t imagine what it must be like to lose a parent and not be able to do that. It had to be a tough decision but not nearly as tough as the circumstances that made it a necessary decision. We’ll miss him but he’s doing the right thing.
He’s definitely the T in pptpw.
Take your time Dwaun.

Wow, this is really sad, my heart goes out to Dwuan & his family. Hopefully one day he’ll be able to come to peace with this, until then, here’s hoping for only the best for he & his fam.

Dwaun Anderson
Dwaun,
Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers and that you will always be a member of the Spartan family!
Blessings!
Best of Luck
but I do have to wonder what the implications of this are. Will Anderson become a Spartan? Why wait until days before the year starts to make this decision? Does this count as his redshirt? I guess this also means Brandon Kearney will be playing next season.
I didn't think there'd be any redshirts
You just don’t know if Byrd will be healthy enough to play.
I thought both BK and Dwaun had a chance to play. BK needs to bulk up but those long arms will come in handy on defense.
What this likely means, especially if Byrd can’t go, is that ole Austin Thornton will see significant court time.

Love Thornton
but lets hope to god Byrd is alright. This team has had enough bad luck with injuries the last few years. But I think if he’s seriously hurt, we may get a medical redshirt approved for him, so hopefully either way we get 4 years outta him.
Well, if Byrd cannot go THIS year
put a fork in him. I’m not saying that to be mean but he will have missed way too much to be expected to contribute by then.
I initially thought that Smith-Rivera’s recent offer was due to Byrd, that he was done. Maybe it’s because of Anderson though. I imagine his decision to not enroll did not take place over night and even though it might seem harsh the program must keep going.
It’s a shame that Anderson is in this position. But I’d say that his willingness to do this speaks volumes about his character and ultimately he will be alright.

I mean
the dude will have 4 years so what do u mean he’s missed to much? I frankly do expect that we’ll be seeing Russell Byrd this year, although I’d like to hear some news soon.
I think the boot is off
At least that’s what he tweeted awhile back and apparently he can still shoot.
The real test will be running and jumping on a court and making shots against defense. I assume he won’t be allowed to try any of that until he’s cleared medically.
I really hope he can go this year.

By too much
I mean too much. If he cannot go this year, that will be 2 straight years of not playing at this particular level which requires a great deal of effort and experience. You cannot expect a kid to step in and contribute when his last play in competitive bball came in high school more than two years ago (if he is unable to go this year, that is). MSU bball plays at too high of a level for that to be in the realm of prbability.
I expect to see him this year as well. However if he were to have to sit this year as well-it’s my opinion that he will then have missed too much time needed to develop and sustain at such a highly competitive level.
