Four-Star Safety Demetrious Cox Commits to Michigan State
\
It's signing day on Wednesday, which means a few things. First, we'll welcome a number of new Spartans into the fold, somewhere in the late teens. Two, teams' fans will all be like, "We're getting 10 wins for sure next year!" and I'll be like, "Looks like another 8-4 season for you Seminole fan." and they'll be all like ":(". Lastly, as fans we'll review the class and say something to the effect of "This is a good class, but next year's will be even better", even though we have no idea how these recruits will perform on the field.
That said, welcome aboard Demetrious Cox! The four-star safety out of Jeannette, Pennsylvania picked Michigan State out of a final three of the Spartans, Penn State, and Ohio State; Cox also had offers from Wisconsin and Notre Dame. The four-star safety is ranked as the 10th best prospect in Pennsylvania and the 13th best safety in the nation. The other services concur. Cox is the 8th best safety in the nation according to Scout, the 18th best safety according to 247 Sports, and the 28th best athlete according to ESPN. All services have him at four stars.
Cox joins Jermaine Edmondson, Ezra Robinson, and Mark Meyers as defensive back commits for Michigan State in 2012, and unless a rip in the space-time continuum deposits mid-80's Deion Sanders in East Lansing, the Spartans are done taking defensive backs. Michigan State could be done taking recruits entirely right now, as they're close to the 85 scholarship team limit. Signing day is coming, and with the commitments of Cox and wide receiver Monty Madaris in the past 24 hours the Spartans look to be finishing strong.

This is fantastic news!
Love the addition of an elite safety. And 3 months ago I really wanted MSU to pick up some sold WR prospects in this class – and that’s what they did. That’s how football games are won, with playmakers. MSU is stockpiling talent.

Strong WR and DB class, but a little thin on the DL.
Hope we can use those last couple spots to get an underrated D tackle

Well we do have Fennel from Oregon
Who is an under the radar guy if there ever was one, at DT.
Also, we have Jamal Lyles coming in from Southfield Lathrup, he’s a 4*, but is at DE & per Rivals, weighs 215, so not exactly a gap stuffing DT unless he really bulks up.
But we do have some big boys coming in on O-Line, and I guess one of them, Zach Higgins from Ohio, is a stud wrestler and can play both ways. So it’s possible he or one of the other o-line recruits may swap sides.
But even if we only have Fennell at DT from this class, we still have a lot of young guys at DT & NT already on the roster, many of whom redshirted last season.
Oh also
Per an article in Detroit Free Press today, we’re still in on four line prospects – an OT from Ohio who verballed to Wisconsin but then reopened recruiting, a DE from Arkansas who verballed to Clemson but is still looking, a DT from NJ who verballed to Rutgers, and a non-committed DT from Ohio who is considering MSU, Illinois & Pitt. So one or two more guys at the last moment could add depth to the line.
Somebody needs to go break Urban Meyer's phone....
…to keep him from spending the next 24 hours trying to steal Cox.

Welcome to MSU to Monty and Demetrius!
This is the first recruit Meyer has been in a battle for and lost to another Big Ten team.
Felt Sorry
He must have felt sorry for them after taking Pitman, and Dobson.
