Game Thread -- Michigan State Spartans at Ohio State Buckeyes

Michigan St. Spartans at Ohio St. Buckeyes, Feb 11, 2012 5:00 PM CST

Your MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS vs OHIO STATE BUCKEYES
VALUE CITY ARENA -- COLUMBUS, OHIO
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2012, 6:00 PM EST
TV: ESPN (link goes to feed)
ONLINE RADIO FEED: Spartan Sports Network

IT'S TIME YOU GUYS. Most of us assumed that Ohio State would be in first place at this point in the season, and I think it's safe to say that most of us hoped that Michigan State would be second. A win here means MSU is tied for first in the Big Ten; a loss puts the Spartans two games back and their title hopes on life support.

In case you wanted to know who the officials are:

RT @OSUADAthComm: Officials for Michigan State at Ohio State: Mike Kitts, Ted Valentine, Lamont Simpson.

Faaannnnttasstic.

This is the game thread. Same rules as always: No slurs, no links to illegal game streams, and be cool to one another. Enjoy the game everyone.

GO GREEN, GO WHITE, BEAT OHIO STATE

Go Green!

Cautiously optimistic about this one. OSU is a fantastic squad (obviously) and IMO the first top tier talent we’ve played since starting with Duke & UNC. I think we’d stand a pretty good chance to beat either of those teams if we played them today and would love to see us pull out an impressive victory on the road against a team that is as talented – if not more – than either of those two.

by jbeshay on Feb 11, 2012 5:59 PM CST up reply actions

I think we're uniquely built for success against OSU

They usually wear other teams down with size and athleticism, and run most things through Sullinger.

The first half has shown that we’re just as big and athletic, that our interior D can limit Sullinger, and that we’re more diverse than they are offensively.

(I meant the points-rebounds-turnovers triple-double.)

And, as it turns out, Eamonn Brennan (blogging at ESPN) did the research and found it: Evan Turner had two triple-doubles that included turnovers as one of the three in his senior year.

So now Minnesota has rivalry trophies with a school riddled with meth and athlete-run drug houses, a campus that keeps Alcoholics Anonymous and Layne Bryant stores in operation, "that which will not be discussed" at Penn State and now Michigan is kissing it’s little brother. Great.

Great 5 on 8 win

Is there a special class at tOSU in whining for athletes? They piss and moan after every call that goes against them. It’s like playing against a team of BoRyans. Craft should be arrested for assault on every defensive possession. It reminded me of a Bad Boys Pistons game—a ten point blowout. Once we were up ten they could never catch up, even with the Three Banditos in the striped shirts.

I don’t know that I agree with the Craft angle here, I try hard to hate him but almost always come across really impressed at his D. He really is a great on the ball defender, he gets through screens that just about anybody I’ve ever seen, I’m surprised that there weren’t 5 second calls a couple of times. Trice really struggled when Craft was on him. Love the win Payne was impressive hopefully he has more of that down the stretch. This team is looking like a really tough out, and one of the most balanced front court/back court Izzo teams that we have seen in a while maybe ever
