ESPN reports that Mark Hollis has secured 16 schools to compete in two basketball tournaments in Portland in November 2017 for Nike head Phil Knight's 80th birthday (which is in February 2018). The schools involved include: MSU, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio State, Connecticut, Georgetown, Texas, Oklahoma, Stanford, Oregon, Xavier, Butler, Gonzaga and Portland, so this is an elite deal. Hollis says the event is not driven by Nike. Rather, it's a thank you from the athletic directors who work with the company.
