I like out of season basketball lists if only because I'm one of those that thinks it's never too soon or too late to talk, read, think or comment about MSU basketball or college hoops in general. When I first stumbled upon this particular list, I figured it would be interesting if not lacking in mystery. Both Inside the Hall and UM Hoops do a much better job of blogging about B1G basketball year round than SB Nation's designated B1G basketball site, BT Powerhouse. I was relatively certain I would find nits to pick and placements to disagree with. What I didn't expect is for Nix to not even make the list though. That's very surprising.

Ranking freshmen is extremely tricky yet several of them populate the list along with unproven players like Ross from OSU. So how is it possible to leave out an upward trending yet proven player like Nix?
