Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE

We don't normally post much about hockey on here (though I love it), but it was a good weekend for the MSU hockey team. Still in the middle of a gauntlet on the schedule, MSU had a solid weekend split at Munn against No. 2/3 Notre Dame.

The Spartans lost 1-0 on Friday, though the game was evenly played. They bounced back with a 4-1 win on Saturday. This team won't make the NCAA Tournament, and it's very, very young, but it was an encouraging weekend for the future of the program. You can read thoughts on each game over at the great MSU hockey blog, The Munn Minute.

MSU is now tied for eighth place in the CCHA standings with... Michigan. The Wolverines have been a major disappointment this year. Both programs may be limping into Big Ten play next year.

Below are highlights from each game.
