On behalf of Auburn fans everywhere, thank you for defeating Ohio State and earning yourself a trip to the Rose Bowl for the first time since Lorenzo White and Andre Rison lined up on offense. You had many a fan down in SEC country rooting for you Saturday night. While I know a trip to the Rose Bowl was plenty motivation in itself and you were acting in your own self interest, per Adam Smith's "Invisible Hand of College Football", you certainly did this boot-strapping program from the plains of east Alabama a HUGE favor in the process and we'd like to extend our sincerest gratitude. Leaving the Georgia Dome Saturday night, there were more than a few cries of "GO SPARTY!!" erupting from the crowd. My party made it home in time to see you up 17-0 before tOSU came roaring back. The 4th quarter was as about as exciting I've seen in a game this year and that 4th down stand was key in preserving the lead. That last insurance TD had us dancing in my living room. What a tremendous game and victory! I hesitate to call it an 'upset' because many in the country saw the Bucks finally walking into a nationally ranked buzzsaw defense for the first time this year and knew what to expect. While Miller and Hyde still were able to rush the ball, Ohio State's passing game was held in check and was way down on yardage that night. Auburn and Michigan State have a lot in common. We both have 'other' programs in the state that grab all the historic press, but we're solid programs in our own right. We definitely owe you guys one and maybe can repay the debt one day. Perhaps also we might meet in a bowl game in the near future or split a home-and-home. We Auburn fans will definitely be rooting for you to chop down the Cardinal tree next month. Go Spartans! And congrats on a terrific season!
