I wrote a preview for the Spartans offense in 2013. You can check it out here.
I'm just curious as to what everyones thoughts on the offense going into this year. Is it more of an optimistic feeling? Or more concerned with what we have coming back?
A few of my personal takes on the offense coming into the year:
- I desperately want Andrew Maxwell to succeed. He is what college football players should be. In this day in age of transferring if you don't play, Maxwell put in the time and the work because he wanted to play Spartan football. That has to mean something, right? But, at the same time, I want to score points. Does Kirk have any eligibility left?
- The running back position is going to be a circus. Nick Hill IS NOT the answer, there is no argument to defend him. The "Riley Bullough Experience" was something fresh and an interesting attempt at creativity, but I don't feel it is the long term answer. Are we going to through a bulk of the rushing on Gerald Holmes as a freshman? That seems to be the best bet.
- Aaron Burbridge is going to be a star. If you're interested in joining my personal "Aaron Burbridge Fan Club", please, feel free to contact me. I think we need to get the ball in his hands and make plays.
- I'd like to make a prediction on the offensive line, but given the history with our offensive line, I'll just leave it alone. About the only thing to be certain about is a freak accident awaits one of them, and someone will have to step up.
I'm interested as to what other people are feeling about the season. With there only being roughly a week left until it's exclusively baseball on television, I need stuff to talk to about to keep me entertained.
