Saturday night on Showtime former Spartan linebacker Seth 'Mayhem' Mitchell is taking on Johnathon Banks on the undercard of the Adrien Broner/Paulie Malignaggi fight at Brooklyn's Barclay's Center. It's a huge score for Mitchell to land on such a big card--Broner's pretty widely considered one of boxing's most talented fighters and Malignaggi has a world-class mouth on him--and I can't wait to see him in action again. This is his second shot at Banks after getting KO'ed by him last November in Rd. 2. His defense has got to get better, but from what I've seen, if he gets past rounds two and three (he got staggered against Chaz Witherspoon in the second before knocking him TFO in the third) he's golden and the dude throws punches with seriously bad intentions behind them. If you get Showtime or any local bars are showing it (Maybe Trippers? IDK if they still do fights) it'll definitely be fun to root on a former Spartan in a big fight. If Mitchell wins, it could set up a rematch with Banks for a rubber match but then open the doors to a fight with the Klitschko brothers. A lot could happen between now and then, but Mayhem is definitely worthy of a lot of fan support. Go Green!
