The title of my fanshot is inspired by a link I saw our own Chris Vannini post on twitter today, which I'll link here:

Long story short, of the non SEC teams, this writer believes MSU is one of 6 teams that can legitimately challenge for the BCS National Championship. I don't have an insider subscription myself, but I'm going to assume the main reasons are because of
2) Changes in offensive staff
With that being said, we all remember how much of a shitshow (to put it nicely) the offense looked at times last year. If the 2011-12 offense was with last years defense, we possibly could've seen one of the best MSU teams ever. But there's no reason to dwell on this fact now. The offense weapons we have is what we'll have to roll with, even though we'd all love to see Kirk & co. walk through that door for one more year.
Clearly, for the Spartans of this year to go from good to great, the offense will need to show major improvements from last year. Should they even get to average in the nation, we could see an 10 or 11 win team and another divisional champion. I have no worries about the defense. Dantonio and Narduzzi have shown over the years that a few losses (Robinson, Worthy last year, Jones, Gordon a few years ago) on defense can be replaced.
To sum up, what do you see the teams ceiling is this year? Are you as optimistic as ESPN and think with a little bit of luck and magic that they can be a darkhorse national title contender? Or is that offense too bad where they can't muster up more than 7 or 8 wins? Or somewhere in between? And if you don't think this team will do much, why? With a good 6-7 weeks before games begin, I'd like to see what the Spartan community thinks of the best case scenario of these guys. I'm not as optimistic as ESPN, but I do think a Big 10 conference title and Rose Bowl berth is possible, should everything go right.
