Good news as MSU ends up with three four-stars all in the top 100. Our highest rated recruit is Matt Costello at No. 57. Kenny Kaminski is No. 77 and Denzel Valentine is No. 95. Some other names of note include Gary Harris at No. 24 and Jordan Hare at No. 88.

Only suprise is Gottlieb has us third in the conference for now. With Illinois(!) at 1. and Purdue at 2.

Almost everyone else seems to be of the opinion that Purdue and MSU are 1 and 1a in some order.

Other theme: The conference is returning the vast majority of its star power and is going to be really deep and competitive.

andy staples of SI.com compiled a list of ten impact freshmen for the 2010 football season. of course william gholston is on the list. the article includes a picture of him looking huge, and the commentary, "Gholston is too special an athlete to keep off the field."

This is obviously what makes sense for Gholston's development, but does it also mean a return of the 4-3 (GASP!!)?

Like last time, since I trust the offense I'll take this as good news that the defense is progressing. One things that jumps out is that the defensive stat leaders mentioned are all LBs, but I suppose that makes sense in a 3-4.
