St8izgr8 over at LifeInLansing caught the Troy/Clarkston game everyone is talking about. St8 is not a hype man nor prone to hyperbolic praise so I take his review and numbers seriously. 2013 WG James Young played huge against major Class A competition getting 49 and 20 with Dane Fife in the house. Rankings are only guides - it's performances like these in front of MSU coaches that gets a player an offer.
Roy Schmidt over at Illinois Prep Bulls-eye is a reputable source and he had this tweet yesterday: "Learned two things yesterday regarding Jabari Parker's recruitment: 1) expect an October decision 2) he may not take all 5 official visits." If Roy is correct on this, that's major news. The earlier talk from Jabari's family has been that they would maximize the recruiting experience with five officials plus in-homes. Hard to say what this means for Duke, MSU, and the rest but I still like Tom Izzo's chances.
This is for the readers who were once clamoring for Jordan Hare to MSU in addition to or over Matt Costello. Hare committed to Rhode Island of the Atlantic 10 Conference this week. Great pick-up for the Rams. Injuries and other things have limited Hare's exposure and he could end up being a defensive force in that conference.
6'0" PG Demetrius Jackson of Mishawaka Marian HS (2013) will visit #MichiganState on September 24 youtu.be/tJ4IoqMScU8

As he mentioned earlier this summer, Demetrius Jackson will be visiting Michigan State on September 24th. There's some speculation that he'll receive an offer if the visit goes well. Whether he does or not will probably tell us a lot about the likelihood of taking a 2013 point guard. Jackson also recently visited and received an offer from Notre Dame.
Steve Schwanda of All Eyes on U Hoops first reported it then UMHoops confirmed via text. It looks like Izzo has finally tipped his hand with the 2013 PGs by offering Walton ahead of others. I plan on having more on these opening days of the evaluation period soon.
...including Purdue, Butler, West Virginia, and Michigan State. This interest could disappear or it could accelerate as young 6'10 players like Morgan continue to develop their game. He's also been added to the 2013 Recruiting Hotlist.
I didn't want to save this for a recruiting round-up: Matt Costello is playing some exceptional bball. I've been a big advocate of him in G&W and Matt's recent performances are backing it up big-time. He's had some huge games and averaging 23pts and 14 rebounds as a junior post player in Class A is for real. He's up to #37 on ESPN's recently updated rankings.
Signing Day is here! I'll have my remarks up later this afternoon but here's a "teaser" link for now. ScoopIPS is saying Dwaun Anderson is signing tomorrow. Not sure how that would effect Izzo's remarks and I'm trying to check it out. Edit: Looks like Dwaun is all good.
