Let's kill FG%, too | Basketball Prospectus | Unfiltered
CO-SIGN. I understand eFG% may be slightly too wonky for common consumption, but TV broadcasters are already giving us two shooting numbers--FG% and 3pt%. Why not just give us 2pt% and 3pt% so people can judge long-distance shooting and not-so-long-distant shooting with equal accuracy?
Basketball Prospectus | Poll Position: This Time Izzo's Right to Worry
Mr. Gasaway diagnoses MSU's problem as 2-point shooting. (Insider content. You can get access to these pieces at the BP site, too, BTW, at a lower monthly rate.)
Inside the Numbers: Scoring effectively - Bucky's 5th Quarter
Since we're on the topic: Looking at which Big Ten teams should be shooting more or less from 3-point range. Technical comment: You can probably live with a slightly lower eFG% from 2-point range than 3-point range since you're much more likely to get fouled shooting around the basket (although I suppose some extra TOs may offset a piece of that.)
Spartans' new hoops lineup may be here to stay | freep.com | Detroit Free Press
Works for me. Lucious gives you offensive spark off bench when second team starts filtering in (ideally, at least). Might as well maximize potential minutes for Green/Roe by not sitting them out for first few minutes.
Tom Izzo on WBBL: Michigan State may have found scrapper it needs in Delvon Roe | MLive.com
"Maybe more importantly, what people don't see, it hinders his chances to get better every day. There's still only so much he can do. He can't spend the 24/7 on the gym floor like he used to be able to because it just wears that knee down. So he came to me about three weeks ago - and he is the toughest guy; tougher than anybody I've got - and said, 'Coach, maybe I could be that defensive guy, that rebounder since I can't do as much (offensively). And yet, since then, he's improved his offense. He almost had a double-double the other night. His defense has been phenomenal. He's athletic enough to guard guys on the perimeter."
Northwestern basketball: John Shurna still isn't 100 percent for Northwestern - chicagotribune.com
Carmody put Shurna on the box for the Draymond offensive board and put-back because, well, he doesn't really trust anyone on his team to rebound the ball.
MSU football: Looking ahead to 2011 | greenandwhite.com | Lansing State Journal
Rexrode's annual superb position-by-position look-ahead. Once again, rebuilding the offensive line looks to be the #1 key.

Hard to pinpoint Big Ten favorite in 2011 - Big Ten Blog - ESPN
The Legends/Leaders thing is even more jarring when used in the context of actual football commentary. Also: You can make a plausible--but far from clear-cut--case for MSU as the Legends-division favorite next season.

Interesting read. Les Miles not a candidate then, so definitely not one now. (No Fitzgerald either, apparently. But: Pelini?)
