Dawson adds Spartans to the mix (247) - In a bit of a surprising twist, former Michigan OL commit David Dawson has added MSU to his top five. The Cass Tech product committed to U-M in February, but decommited recently, partly because he wanted to continue visiting schools. He listed a top four of Florida, Alabama, LSU and Ohio State, but added MSU this past week. He recently visited Florida and there were reports he committed to the Gators, but he denied that.

How serious is his interest in MSU? I don't know. I don't think it's much, but that didn't stop MSU commits from trying to capitalize on the news MSU was in the mix.

Dawson then said he would be deleting his account soon. I can't stress enough that you shouldn't tweet at recruits, even if it's something positive. Plus, it's sort of against NCAA rules. Then again, I'm probably added to the problem by embedding these tweets.

Shane Jones to play in Offense-Defense All-American Bowl (Cincinnati Enquirer) - The game is scheduled for Dec. 31 in Houston. Jones is a linebacker commit. On Twitter, Reschke also said he's playing in the game, while Terry said he was invited, but hasn't accepted or declined yet.

Prep update: Record-setting weekend for Terry (Rivals) - A look at how MSU commits fared last weekend. Terry threw six touchdowns and ran for another last Friday. He has 31 touchdowns to two interceptions with more than 2,100 yards on the season. Receiver Jay Harris also had a big game with nine catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

Kenton Gibbs talks to Rivals in this video. The 2013 three-star Cass Tech DT reiterated that MSU has been coming on strong in recruiting him.

5-star DT may visit Michigan State (247) - MSU recently offered JUCO DT Toby Johnson. Not much of an update, other than he says he's wide open, and would like to build a relationship with Ted Gill.

Henderson will decide soon (Scout) - 2014 four-star Virginia quarterback Caleb Henderson says he's going to make a decision in mid-November. He's also planning on visiting for the Nebraska game on Nov. 3, and also get out to Ohio State-Michigan (which is late November). From what I've seen on bios, he doesn't have a ton of major offers, although he's gotten plenty of interest. If that's the case when he commits, I wonder how tight that will be.

"I think me and my family will sit down soon and talk - we were thinking probably middle of November is when we are going to trying and commit," said the 6-foot-4, 225-pound signal-caller. "I think I've narrowed it down to a top five, and all five schools are even right now. Next year, I just want to be able to focus on my senior year - and playing - instead of having to impress a college."

Trout will be back in East Lansing (247) - MSU will be looking at taking a lot of offensive linemen in the 2014 class, and four-star tackle Kyle Trout is near the top of that list. He visited for the Notre Dame game, and says he plans on visiting again. He has offers from MSU, Illinois, Cincinnati and others and is getting mail from all over the country, but he is waiting until his season is over to get in-depth in the recruiting process.

Marshall on verge of offer? (247) - 2014 Southfield defense end Lawrence Marshall is hoping MSU will be his first Big Ten offer. He has offers from Bowling Green and San Diego State, and is getting interest from a lot more schools.

"Coach Salem's a real nice guy," Marshall said. "I've been getting recruited by Michigan State since my ninth grade year and have gotten to know Coach Salem. He came to watch me play a few times and stopped up at my school a few times. Every time we talk he's just real laid back and easy to talk to. I'm just real comfortable when speaking with him."

Illinois 2014 quarterback talks Spartans (Scout) - Shelby Spence visited for the Notre Dame game and says he has been exchanging mid-season film with Dan Roushar hoping for some feedback.
