YOUR MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS vs. THE TEXAS SOUTHERN TIGERS
THE JACK BRESLIN STUDENT EVENTS CENTER, EAST LANSING, MI
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 12:00 PM EASTERN
TV: NO TV,
STREAMING ON BTN.COM
First, the game's not on TV, BOOOO. It'll be on tape delay tomorrow at 4 PM Eastern on BTN, so take note.
Second, if you're wondering how Texas Southern got on the schedule for the Spartans, ex-Indiana coach Mike Davis (after Bobby Knight, replaced by Kelvin Sampson) now coaches the Tigers after a six-year stint at UAB. In their three games so far this season, Texas Southern has lost by 18 at Boise State, lost by 30 at Northwestern, and beat Louisiana Lafayette 74-71 in overtime. This is your garden variety non-conference game against a low-major conference opponent, so there's not much to say about it.
That said, if you're looking for stats-like material, know that they ge offensive rebounds on 21.1% of their misses, this is 324th in the nation and can most likely be attributed to the Tigers being a perimeter-oriented team, as almost half of their shots (44.6% to be exact) are threes. Having only one player on the roster taller than 6'7" probably doesn't help either. The three things this team does fairly well: holds onto the ball (turns the ball over on 17.6% of their possessions), foul at a low rate (opponents shoot about one free throw for every four field goals attempted), and do not allow opponents to get offensive boards (opponents get their misses 28.3% of the time, putting them in the top third of NCAA teams in that statistic).
Let's hope for an inconsequential game. Same rules as always for the game thread: No links to illegal game streams, no slurs, and be cool to one another. Enjoy the game everyone (if you're there, or if you shelled out the money for it).
GO GREEN, GO WHITE, BEAT TEXAS SOUTHERN.
