Big Ten awards upset a lot of people

Reid Compton-US PRESSWIRE

The All-Big Ten teams were announced, and they were.... weird.

Coaches First Team: Le'Veon Bell, Max Bullough, Johnny Adams, Darqueze Dennard, Mike Sadler

Coaches Second Team: Dion Sims:

Coaches Honorable Mention: Denicos Allen, William Gholston, Isaiah Lewis, Chris McDonald, Marcus Rush

Media First Team: Bell

Media Second Team: Gholston, Bullough, Adams, Dennard, Sadler

Media Honorable Mention: Allen, Lewis, McDonald, Rush

Keith Mumphrey was given the Sportsmanship Award for MSU. Here is the complete list of honorees.

I'm not going to get too into things, because I think all-conference teams can be overrated. Last year, all 11 starters on MSU's defense earned at least honorable mention. This year, the conference's No. 1 defense didn't get a single first-team player from the media. Micah freaking Hyde won the Defensive Back of the Year award. Ohio State didn't have a first-team offensive player from the coaches.

Every local beat writer and fan thinks their guys were snubbed. The fact is, this conference has a TON of good linebackers, and not much else. I'll throw my two cents in and say Mike Sadler should have won the Punter of the Year award.

It's about wins and losses, and there is plenty to debate about there. The good news for MSU is that only Adams and McDonald are seniors among Spartan honorees (though some others could go pro).

Feel free to leave your thoughts on the honors below.
