A few weeks ago, we let you know about some design changes coming to the SB Nation platform and The Only Colors.
We can't give an exact date yet, but know that the new TOC will be coming very soon (and don't worry, the shade of green in the logo has been changed). Having worked with the new platform for the past week, I can say it may take a little bit of time to adjust, but in the end, the new design will be beneficial to all, as most changes are. Here are some notable improvements with the changes.
- SB Nation United is going to make our sites load faster and run better meaning you can get to the content you want faster.
- SB Nation United is going to make sure that you're seeing the best and brightest content up front with our flexible layout, modern design and reduction of clutter.
- SB Nation United is going to make the experience on our sites run seamlessly from every platform, whether mobile, tablet or computer. No matter where you are, the experience will not change.
- SB Nation United will not take away or change any of the community elements you love like FanPosts and FanShots and GameThreads.
Nothing major is going to change, so don't worry. The new layout will help us emphasize the posts that take a lot of work and deserve a lot of eyeballs (New Math, Picture Pages, etc), while also keeping the reverse chronological order that SB Nation blogs have found success with. The content and the community will be the same, and we are confident that the new design will make things more appealing.
Again, we can't give an exact date for the changeover, but there are some screenshots of what you'll be seeing after the jump (from other sites). We want to make sure you aren't shocked one random morning without knowing anything. We're really excited for the new look and hope you are, too.
Above is the cover page, which will let us highlight specific stories. We can change how many stories appear on the cover.
This is the entire site from top to bottom, and the layout is similar to the current design. Things will be in reverse chronological order, with fanposts and fanshots appearing on the sides. This is just a zoomed out look at the whole thing.
This is an example of the fanshot page.
This is an example of the front page on a phone. Below is a look on a tablet.
Again, I'm sure there wil be some problems in the beginning, and it may seem overwhelming at first, but after using it a couple times, I'm confident this will be a positive step forward for TOC writers and the community.
