College Gameday Coming To East Lansing For MSU Vs. Ohio State

I bet few saw this coming:

For the sixth time, ESPN's College Gameday will be coming to East Lansing. The Spartans are 2-3 in games in which the crew is in town — the most-recent being last year's Hail Mary win over Wisconsin. The game will take place at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.

If you're wondering why Gameday is subjecting itself to Big Ten football, check out the schedule of games. Where else were they going to go? Tennessee at Georgia? Texas at Oklahoma State? Wisconsin at Nebraska? MSU/OSU is the only matchup between two ranked teams one of just two games between ranked teams (since Baylor is now ranked and plays at West Virginia), but the other one is at noon and on FX. Not appealing to ESPN.

While I'm sure much of the show will be focused on the conference's struggles, getting the national spotlight again isn't a bad thing for program perception. Maybe things will turn around just in time for the Spartans to gain back some respect.

UPDATE: MSU says the Gameday set will be located north of Beaumont Tower. That will give it a more campus feel than Munn Field. I like it.
