The basketball counts this time, but we still don't get to watch it on TV, for some reason. MSU opens the regular season against McNeese State. MSU has actually lost its past two openers, but those were on aircraft carriers or in Germany.

McNeese State is in the Southland Conference. In 2011, they won the regular season title and reached the NIT. In 2012, they were a participant in the CBI. Last season, they went 14-17. From the MSU notes:
McNeese State junior guard Kevin Hardy and junior forward Desharick Guidry have been named to the 2013-14 All-Southland Conference men's basketball preseason second team ... Hardy was a member of the 2013 SLC All-Defense Team and enters the year with 94 career steals ... Senior guard Ledrick Eackles is the son of former NBA player Ledell Eackles ... Guidry led the Cowboys in scoring (12.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg) last season, ranking 14th in the conference and seventh in rebounding.
The Cowboys are No. 285 in KenPom (No. 284 in offense and No. 283 in defense). Last year, they were No. 237 in adjusted tempo (64.8). Just about the only thing they were notably good at was not turning the ball over on offense. They mostly play man-to-man defense.

MSU has a 99 percent chance of winning, per KP, and the projected score is 78-53.

This is also the Game Thread. No links to illegal game streams, no slurs, and please don't feed the trolls.
