Michigan State Baseball Opening Weekend!

Just a heads up, everyone: MSU baseball begins its season TONIGHT in Greenville, South Carolina against Furman. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 EST. I plan on publishing a FanPost updating you on the Spartans in particular and Big Ten baseball in general upon the conclusion of each series the team plays, so be on the lookout for those. Jake Boss' boys are coming off an excellent season; the Spartans went 37-23 (13-11 in the conference) and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1979. It was the team's third consecutive 30-win season as well. Senior Jordan Keur is back for one last go-around; he led the team with a .353 average last season. Other names to watch out for include senior righty Andrew Waszak (went 4-4 with a 2.96 ERA in 2012 and is the Opening Day starter), juniors Dave Garner and Jeff Kinley (they tied for the team lead in wins a year ago with six), sophomore outfielder Anthony Cheky (he hit .311 as a freshman), and sophomore catcher/first baseman Blaise Salter (he slugged .515 in 2012, best on the team). The team's website has the schedule; google "msu baseball" and you'll find it. I recommend using it so you can keep up on the team and get an idea of when I'll be publishing new posts. In the meantime, you can follow me on Twitter @stackofpuncakes. Go Green...Go White!
