Football 'Crootin Roundup is back

A month of offers updated and more as the roundup makes its return.

Mike Carter-US PRESSWIRE

After the chaos of signing day and a brief hiatus (vacation to Australia and New Zealand for me), the roundup is back and ready for the recruiting season to pick up.

Thanks to Chris for covering the roundup while I was gone, and to the 2014 prospects -- none of whom committed while I was gone.

Fourteen new offers went out in the month of February -- including a quarterback -- and the Spartans have made strides with top targets of late -- i.e. Lawrence Marshall.

With just more than 11 months until signing day 2014, there is plenty going on.

2014

QB Durkin to visit MSU for spring practice (Rivals) -MSU's fourth offer of the 2014 class at quarterback, Youngstown Ursuline's Chris Durkin has seen his recruitment rising in recent weeks. He will visit MSU in late March and says he wants to commit to a school before the summer.

Armstrong sees Spartans as family (Scout) - Detroit Loyola offensive tackle Ka'John Armstrong hasn't received an offer from MSU -- yet. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound prospect praised MSU for a sense of family, focus on education and a great football program. He also said he already considers himself a part of the team. Keep an eye on his recruitment.

Henderson 'thrilled' with offer (247) - Shaker Heights (Cleveland) defensive end Joe Henderson has a laundry list of offers, and MSU joined the fold. Henderson says he is figuring out his visits, but Michigan State will be one of them.

Oxley adds another (Scout) - Avon Lake (Ohio) offensive tackle Ben Oxley has five offers, including two Big Ten schools. Michigan State is looking at the junior and he is looking to visit. He could turn into an MSU target in the future.

Watkins gets Spartan offer (Rivals) - A dynamic athlete at quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back, Galion (Ohio) prospect Dareian Watkins finally received an MSU offer -- one he was waiting on. MSU is reportedly eyeing Watkins at wide receiver.

Michigan State offers New Jersey junior DB Shamir Bearfield (247) - Bearfield, a safety from Jersey City, N.J., holds offers from Rutgers and MSU. He says he will visit MSU on March 10.
